As always the Flyers are going to have to be disciplined and smart tonight. Play physical but dont be stupid. Dont let that mental midget Talbot get in your head(im looking at you Carcillo).

This is true. Play PHYSICAL but dont be stupid.
Im liking these lines, but Giroux needs to be more of a team player right now. Not always showing off his hands
Carter line Briere is having good games but Carter and Hartnell need to be better. They must score.
Actually, Carter has been playing quite well and has been really distributing the puck well. If he ends up with 2 or 3 assists this game, I'm perfectly content with that.
I think Carter's game has really started to round out under Laviolette and he might just be that big center who can not only score, but can pass the puck very well. If anything, Fartnell needs to be moved off that line and JVR used in his spot instead (I'd like to see Hartnell moved completely, but who wants to take on a 4.25 million dollar waste of space)
In order to win tonight, we're gonna have to win the battle in the FO circle. Can't let Crosby be 70%+ on draws again tonight. Richie and Carter need to step their game up on draws.

Hopefully they'll be better. They are both over 50 percent on the year. But to expect that either of them will suddenly be able to dominate Crosby who has quietly (for him) become one of the premier face off guys in the league is wishful thinking but, who knows, anything is possible.
Carter is actually in the top 30 faceoff men in the league right now with 52.3 percent. Mike Richards is at 51.1 percent. So, JXC can suck it, they did both become legit faceoff guys. But, it's still really hard to go up against someone averaging 58.3% or whatever.
It appears likely that defenseman Sergei Gonchar will play tonight when the Philadelphia Flyers visit Mellon Arena. Gonchar took part in practice and looked fine.
The availability of Ruslan Fedotenko and Max Talbot could be in question after they missed practice Wednesday. Coach Dan Bylsma said both players were undergoing "maintenance days," which sometimes simply means a day of rest but also could indicate an injury.
Fedotenko crashed into the Atlanta net late in Tuesday's 5-2 victory. After the game, he seemed OK.
"I got hurt when I fell into the net," he said. "But it's no big deal. I'm fine."
Talbot was believed to be a healthy scratch Tuesday. He has only one goal in 20 games since returning from shoulder surgery.
I will keep my undefeated when I don't post during the game streak alive tonight
JVR looked great with JC, and Danny B last night when Harts got his 10min, please put him up with those 2 and put Harts with Powe and Asham ( That could be a real good line )

I did not say he played bad but he needs to play better especially against Pens, I do not think you will disagee. He and Mike need to match or out match Malkin and Crosby.
Personally I can not wait to see Carter catching Crosby or Malkin with a shoulder. He has Ovechkins size and speed.
Anyways, I am always afraid to play the Pens to be honest. During the regular season we always seem to put forth a good effort and the games tend to be close, but they've generally owned us the last couple of years.
Also, I'm another fan of moving Hartnell down and JVR up. Laviolette is all about rewarding players for good efforts. JVR had a fantastic game last night and Hartnell didn't.

I think Hartnell would fare better on that line. It is a gritty line. Don't let Hartnell's penalties fool you, Colton Orr and Garnet Exelby were manhandling him away from the play, as well as after play was stopped. He did pretty well not retaliating.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks Hartnell's played well lately. He's not showing up on the score sheet, but he's been getting opportunities. He did do a good job not retaliating yesterday, and I don't think he really deserved the misconduct.
I agree that we have to play physical, as the Penguins are 3rd in total hits and 6th in hits at home, while we are 26th in total hits and 17th in road hits. However, maybe hitting isn't that important considering the top two total hit teams are Carolina and the Rangers neither of whom are doing great. Not that they are doing badly because they are playing physical however. I think our total hits rank has gone up slightly however (at least one spot), also now one of our top hitters, Powe is back in the line up. Pittsburgh has 4 of the top 30 hitters in the league in terms of recorded hits thrown. These players are Orpik, Rupp, Adams, and Cooke in that order. We have one player in the top 60.
edit: I kind of hope Gonchar is in the lineup because I want us to beat their team while they are at as close to full strength as possible. I saw on their board that Talbot may be out.
