these are highlights from the game tonight between Windsor and Saginaw. Check out the first goal they show by Eric Wellwood. He is also in a couple goals after. Flyers fans trust me when I say this, you are getting a major steal in this kid.

Thanks for the post. I do like him. I saw a few of his highlights and he seems like a very good player. Hopefully you are right.

Playing with Taylor Hall and Greg Nemisz sure makes life easier, haha.

We were actually having a discussion about that.
Andrew doesn't think that's entirely fair because he doesn't get very much PP time. While the better team would certainly inflate his numbers a bit, he really isn't given any man-up chances to show what he can do.
Wellwood's an odd case. I still think he has more future as a decently producing defensive forward than an actual two-way weapon. We'll just have to wait and see how he progresses and if his offense isn't just in the middle of a good year.

What are the lines on that team if they have the depth to keep Wellwood and Nemisz on a line separate from the projected #1 Overall Hall?
Stacked little OHL team they have! haha
F - Taylor Hall: 34 GP - 59 P - 1.74 PPG
F - Adam Henrique: 32 GP - 53 P - 1.66 PPG
F - Greg Nemisz: 34 GP - 48 P - 1.41 PPG
D - Cam Fowler: 32 GP - 40 P - 1.25 PPG
D - Ryan Ellis: 22 GP - 25 P - 1.14 PPG
F - Justin Shugg: 39 GP - 42 P - 1.08 PPG
F - Eric Wellwood: 38 GP - 38 P - 1.00 PPG
Eric Wellwood is a soon to be 20 year old as well. Maybe it's just me, but I've got tempered enthusiasm for him simply because of the fact that he is going to be 20 (in March), he plays on a stacked team, and most 20 year olds usually put up good numbers, no matter if they play in the OHL, WHL, or CHL. Remember, he only put up 38 points in the OHL last season.

Are the Flyers likely to move him to the Phantoms soon? A few games there would be a good indication of his progression.
How many players on the Phantoms are legit "prospects" right now anyway. I mean more then AHL "filler" and guys who will never get a chance here.
I also hope Matsumoto is not one of those guys who will never get a chance here.
Neat goal. I don't get the "steal" though - he's seventh on his team in scoring... (?)
Or is that owed to not much PP time?
Windsor's PP is lethal. It is a stacked team, and they're well coached. Not getting PP time affects every player, but on this team, it definitely widens the gap in scoring.
He's played more games than their big 5, due to the World Juniors, but being 7th in scoring on the Spits isn't a negative.
