Stars forward Jere Lehtinen missed his second straight game with a sore groin. Lehtinen skated with the team Wednesday morning at the American Airlines Center, but the team decided it was better to give him some extra rest heading into the Christmas break.

Daley has been activated off IR, which I assume means he's in tomorrow. Robidas missed practice today after he (guess what) got hit in the face with the puck at practice yesterday.

I'm sure some of you already saw this but the lines from yesterday were different, not sure how long that experiment will last. Yes obviously lehtinen makes the line more defensively responsible but he has shown that the scoring touch is clearly not what it was, plus it is only about 5 games till he goes back on the injury list.

Eriksson-Richards-Lehtinen
Neal-Ribeiro-Ott
Morrow-Wandell-Benn
Barch-Modano-Petersen/Brunnstrom

Well, there was obviously a reason Brunnstrom has been a healthy scratch recently. Fabian has been assigned to the AHL on a conditioning assignment.

I think this is a good idea, and the scratches which seemed somewhat annoying for Barch now make sense.

He'll be back with Dallas on January 14th. In that time, he'll get to play 6 games with Texas.

Maxime Fortunus is also back with Texas. I guess Fistric is ready to go.

Ribeiro out 4 to 6 weeks

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/289464.html

Mike Ribeiro is expected to miss four to six weeks after being accidentally hit in the throat by a stick of Christopher Higgins.

Ribeiro had plastic surgery at Hospital St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan Wednesday night in order to repair a bruise. He also underwent tracheotomy.

Ribeiro will remain in hospital for a few days after he will return to Dallas.

In 43 games this season, Ribeiro collected 10 goals and 23 assists.

Ribeiro to IR

The Dallas Stars announced today that center Mike Ribeiro has been placed on injured reserve and is expected to be out four-to-six weeks due to a throat contusion suffered on Wednesday night at the New York Rangers.

Ribeiro underwent a procedure at St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan last night to repair the contusion, which included a tracheotomy. He is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days before returning to Dallas.

Ribeiro suffered the injury when he was hit in the neck by the stick of Rangers forward Chris Higgins at 15:32 of the second period last night. Higgins was assessed a two-minute minor penalty on the play.

I'm guessing Crawford won't be able to put Wandell on the 4th line now, but we'll see.

Call up Gagnon?

So ... consider him gone until after the Olympic break essentially.

He should miss 18 games. Dallas is 6 points out of the playoff mix right now.

Yes please or Warren Peters.

Both looked good in their brief (very brief) call ups, but they've looked great in the 15 or 20 Texas games I've seen this year.

Maybe Gagnon gets the edge because he's a right shot and can take faceoffs.

These were the lines from practice:

Eriksson-Richards-Lehtinen
Morrow-Wandell-Benn
Neal-Modano-Petersen
Sutherby-Ott-Barch

Which I can understand with not having called anyone up yet, but here is the kicker...

Right now there is no plan to call anybody up. Fabian Brunnstrom is expected to stay with the Texas Stars until next week as planned.
Why would Petersen or Sutherby not center the 4th line? I would most definitely rather have Ott on the third line than Petersen.

Looks like Ott will be the new 4th line center instead.

I overlooked the fact they'd have to pay someone else actual legal currency if they opted for a call-up. Whatever it takes to keep Barch in the lineup.

I don't know that it's a kicker.

I missed Brunnstrom's first game down there, but he was a -2. I did watch the 2nd game though, and his first period was unbelievable. I love the guy, and it didn't look like he belonged in the ECHL. Txomisc will back me up. It was horrific. However, from the 2nd period on he's been great. He's actually scored 5 points in the last 5 periods playing great hockey.

They should not rush him at this point. The guy obviously needs some time to get into game shape, and they are playing him a ton right now in Austin. I believe he will get back to back games this weekend and another game on Tuesday.

Brunnstrom will be in the mix for the Montreal game according to Crawford (audio at Andrew’s).

That's fantastic. Wow after the the two games in New York, the Texas game last night and now this? This has been the worst sports week ever. Fate, the sports gods, or whomever are really beating me down to the point that I don't want to turn on my tv if this continues.

Grossman will miss at minimum the next 2 games against Columbus and Philadelphia with his knee injury.

Grossman placed on IR, Fortunus recalled.
http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/arch...called-up.html
Quote:
The Stars have placed defenseman Nicklas Grossman on IR retroactive to Jan. 6 with a lower body injury (believed to be his knee). The earliest Grossman could return is the Jan. 14 game against Montreal.

They have recalled Maxime Fortunus from Texas (AHL), which will give them seven defensemen. It will be interesting to see how the Stars use Fortunus. He could step right into the lineup, allowing the Stars to scratch Matt Niskanen or Jeff Woywitka, or he could be a depth defenseman and be a healthy scratch.
Hopefully Fortunus plays and Woywitka is scratched

Ribeiro will return to Dallas sometime this weekend, and he will not be allowed to even workout for 2 weeks. Crawford confirmed it's unlikely he'll play before the Olympic break (in 5 weeks).

Good news out of practice, my long-desired 1st line is finally going to see the light of day: Morrow-Richards-Eriksson

Brunnstrom also called up.... maybe even Neal-Modano-Brunnstrom? Nah, I'm being greedy now.

Grossman still hurt so we'll probably lose anyway.

I guess Grossman still isn't ready to come back. No matter, Woywitka will spearhead the tank.

Morrow has an oblique muscle strain and Lehtinen has a neck strain.
