I don't really care about Kovalchuk on 5-3, a player like this, you need to keep his energy for PP not PK.
We should try to do the same with Pleky.
So you would take one Kovalchuk and one Metropolit instead of two Plekanec?
Kovalchuk: 47 points (no PK), Plekanec: 46 points (top PK)...
I am asking again... Just removing the cars and putting players.
In car terms: would you take two Lexus vs one Mercedes and one Corolla. May be I was not presenting well.

Exactly what H4L said. Pleks is having an incredible year, but he has not proved that he can do these kind of numbers year in, year out. Kovalchuk on the other hand has. Hes a proven thing.
I hope the habs wont have to make that choice and can keep both the "Camry" and get the "Benz". But the odds are not in our favor, as usual.
For now, Gainey has to sign Pleks, whether he keeps his performance or not we cant let him get away. On the other hand we cant throw the bank at him either since we dont know if he can keep it up. This is Pleks' contract year, so we knew he was going to boost his performance. Lets reward him with a good and FAIR contract. This is going to be a tough one on Gainey.
Kovalchuk IMO will get 8-9M depending on who he signs with and how badly he wants to win. I was surprised at how low Hossa signed for when he moved to Detroit, but he wanted to win. Kovalchuk might be the same, especially after spending so many years with Atlanta and having nothing to show for it. Of course he wants a longer contract too so we'll have to see what the outcome is. But in any case, i doubt he gets 10 let alone 11M, but some GM's have made bonehead moves before.
