Thank you to the mod that deleted my first page post as it could have stirred up something, but missing the olympics now, really? That was a huge missed opportunity for him and his brother to excel on the world stage and be the bright spots of an otherwise doomed team, probably boosting them mentally and physically from the olympic rush and dominating in the second half of the season. I feel like a needle was inserted in that baloon.
I mentioned earlier that a trade would be the best option now that AK is out. An astute poster mentioned that there is no Cap room to do this. So,...? Also, would need to be a legitimate top 6 forward to fill in for AK.
Actually, there are some good players on that list. Could it be doable?
Cap-wise, the only trades I see being open to us are a Defenseman-for-Forward swap.
Our D is almost fully healthy right now, and it has 7 proven NHLers amongst its ranks (not including MAB).
So, a D-for-F trade would make sense from the Habs perspective.
And, of course, whatever salary we give up with the D we could spend up to with the F we get back (in fact, we'd probably need to).
Spacek-for-a Top 6 winger might be ideal right now...
... If a team is as desperate for a D-man that can eat up minutes as we are for a Top 6 winger, of course...
Why can't we have our whole team more than one damn week? That is ridiculous. I think we've had our whole team for exactly one match, against the Panthers in Florida and it was probably our best match of the year. Think about that: one match.
What are we going to trade to Columbus? They will want Subban back most probably and that ain't gonna happen
Of course nobody want to see Subban move, surely not against a guy who's in Russia right now. I'd take Filatov if Columbus isn't asking too much for him, which I doubt. But still, Bob could work the phone just to know.
