Alexander Ovechkin - Nicklas Backstrom - Tomas Fleischmann
Vyacheslav Kozlov - Robert Lang - Bobby Ryan
Oskar Osala - Brooks Laich - Eric Fehr
Boyd Gordon - Dave Steckel - Matt Bradley

Tom Poti - Mike Green
JM Liles - Karl Alzner
Jeff Schultz - John Carlson

Semyon Varlamov
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Overall I'm not as happy with my roster as I would have liked to be. I lost out on some free agents and had some trades fall through at the last minute.

I'm fairly happy with my defence, I think it features a good balance of puckmovers and shutdown guys. It might be a bit young, but I have ample cap space to try and make an adjustment.

My forwards are still dangerous with Ovechkin, Backstrom and Ryan along with solid support players in Laich, Fehr and Fleischmann. Although guys like Kozlov, Lang and Osala are solid I can't help but think I settled on them more than anything.

Goaltending is okay. I plan on signing a veteran backup before the game officially ends, so that should fill that hole. It will really depend on how Varlamov reacts to becoming the true number 1 guy.

Nashville Predators

Martin Erat - Jason Arnott - J.P. Dumont
Patric Hornqvist - David Legwand - Steve Sullivan
Raffi Torres - Colin Wilson - Joel Ward
Marcel Goc - Jerred Smithson - Adam Burish
Ryan Jones

Ryan Suter - Shea Weber
Cam Barker - Cody Franson
Kurt Sauer - Kevin Klein
Alexander Sulzer

Pekka Rinne
Michael Leighton

total cap number: 51.679mil$
total cap space: 6.121mil$

Offence: Very good top 2 lines, well balanced with alot of speed. 3rd line has a little of everything, hopefully Colin Wilson is up to the task or else Marcel Goc will fill in and that line could be less effective. Very good 4th line, good defensivly and should bring alot of energy.

Key player: Colin Wilson. He needs to step up and bring secondary scoring to the top 2 lines.

Defence: Very good 1st pairing. One of the best in the NHL. 2nd pairing have alot of talent but a little scary defensivly. I would have hope to find a way to upgrade it but we'll see how things go and we have cap space available to fix that. Solid bottom pairing, look for Sauer to possibly moving to the 2nd pairing to solidify it if needed.

Key player: Cam Barker. Suter and Weber will do what they do. We need Cam to step his game up with much increased ice time. He needs to round out his game and be dependable to be the 3rd defenceman of this team.

Goaltender: Rinne is one of the best goalie int he league and hopefully he can elevate his game a little more as he is now the uncontested #1. Leighton is a good back up and a good teammate, we like him in his role while Chet Pickard gains experience is the AHL.

Money spent: I think I spent more than Nashville can in reality by about 5mil$ but I needed to get Rinne locked up. I also needed to replace Dan Hamhuis with a quality defenceman.

Sturm-Roy-Iginla
Holmstrom-Dubinsky-Zherdev
Tikhonov-Backlund-Giroux
Glencross-Langkow-Nystrom
Dawes

Call up:Nimisz

Pairings:

Sarich(R)-Bouwmeester(L)
Gilroy(R)-Seindenburg (L)
Schubert(L)-Erskine(L)
Giordano(L)
Woywitka (L)

Call up: Aulie

Kiprusoff
McLelland

In: Holmstrom, Tikhonov, Zherdev, Dubinsky, Gilroy, Woywitka, Sidenburg, Schubert, Erskine, Giroux

Out: Moss, Phaneuf, Bourque, Boyd, Prust, Sjostrum, Rheger, Exelby, Pardy, Conroy, McGrattan, Kronwall, Jokinen, Johnson

Key additions:

Roy, Holmstom, Sturm, Zherdev, Dubinsky. These players complete a legitimate top6.

Our forward corps is suddenly very dangerous, balanced and gritty. Holstrom will upset many goaltenders and knock in the garbage from Zherdev, and Dubinsky will grind and give Zherdev the space he requires to score. Iginla is still a 40-50 goal man paired well with a playmaking Centre in Roy who averages 0.75-1 PPG and Sturm who produces 20-30 goals everywhere he goes.

Our bottom 6 has a very good energy line with Tikhonov (a future top 6 winger), Backlund (a future #1C) and Giroux (who scored 75 G in his last season in the AHL and averages 0.33 PPG in the NHL). Our 4th line boasts size, grit and 45 goals a year.

Our defence still boasts Boumeester as our all-star, but he is well supported. Gilroy will round out into a top 4 Dman this season. Our D also has a good mix of speed, passing, size and grit.

Our goaltending is in the hands of perennial a Vezina candidate in Kiprusoff and McLelland is capable of playing 15-20 games per season and be at .500 in those games.

Our prospect pool includes Nimisz up front, Aulie and Elliot on D and Lleland in goal.

We also hold all our own picks in the 2011 draft as well Colorado's 1st in 2011.

Our cap space is 715K

Phoenix Coyotes

FORWARDS:
DoanGomezStafford
UpshallLombardiKovalev
CloweHanzalVrbata
KorpikoskiFiddlerWinnik
Bissonnette

DEFENSEMEN:
SpacekMichalek
YandleGoncharov
VandermeerPicard
Lepisto

GOALIES:
Bryzgalov
LaBarbera

CAP SPACE: $3.384M

May have gone over budget, but figure with new ownership they will want to make a big splash. Only two players are signed for more than 3 years: Michalek (8 years), and Gomez (4 years).

Aggressive forechecking and backchecking; a defensive core comprised of shutdown and puck-moving d-men; a top-10 PK; a top-10 faceoff winning percentage; and one of the best goaltenders the league saw in 2009-10. All that returns for the 2010-11 season. And what we lacked last year, scoring punch, has been added, and then some.

Alex Kovalev, Drew Stafford, Ryan Clowe and Scott Gomez join Shane Doan, Scotty Upshall, Matty Lombardi, and Radim Vrbata to give the Coyotes the best offensive core its had since coming to Phoenix. Also back are Marty Hanzal (aka "Joe Thornton's Worst Nightmare), Vern Fiddler, Dan Winnik, Lauri Korpikoski, and Paul Bissonnette, who provide the grit that tended to exhaust opponents last season and will only be better with this year's new offensive explosiveness.

Last year anything less than a playoff appearance would be a failure. We made the playoffs for the first time in 7 years. This year, a deep playoff run is the expectation.

We didn't do it with a massive overhaul by blowing up our core or dealing away our future. We kept our chemistry in tact on all of our lines, adding pieces to make the offense better.

Kyle Turris, Kevin Porter, Brett MacLean, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Chris Summers, Chad Kolarik, Mike Lee, Chris Brown, Nino Neddereitter, Emerson Etem and Jack Campbell will get all the time they need to develop. The Coyotes are in good shape for years to come.

New York Islanders

Line up:
Lee Stempniak - John Tavares - Kyle Okposo
Matt Moulson - Josh Bailey - Trent Hunter
Sean Bergenheim - Chris Higgins - Owen Nolan
Blake Comeau - Frans Nielsen - Matt Cooke
extra: Jeff Tambellini, Richard Park

Ryan Whitney - Anton Volchenkov
Radek Martinek - Jack Hillen
Andrew MacDonald - Bruno Gervais
extra:

Rick DiPietro
Dwayne Roloson

I am VERY happy with our changes and I think we're greatly improved. With the addition of one more top 4 defenseman I believe we could be legit playoff contenders that could win a few rounds.
btw we are expecting to make atleast one more move

I don't know about going far in the playoffs but this team is greatly improved. You did a really good job and this team would definitely push for a playoff spot.

Not too much change, but we added a good veteran presence who provides scoring depth in Tkachuk, and a PP QB in Campbell. We didn't acquire the #1 center we were looking for, but we feel like these two additions will go a long way in helping our team.

We're still in discussions about one final trade, but if it doesn't get done this is what our roster looks like:

Wojtek Wolski - Paul Stastny - Chris Stewart
Paul Kariya - Matt Duchene - Milan Hejduk
Alex Tanguay - Michael Frolik - Cody McLeod/Mike Knuble
TJ Galiardi - Ryan O'Reilly - Jeff Halpern
Cody McLeod/Mike Knuble

Robyn Regehr - Pavel Kubina
Scott Hannan - Kyle Quincey
Kyle Cumiskey - Matt Greene
Adam Pardy

Craig Anderson
Michael Neuvirth

I think I have a nice balance of proven talent with potential talent at forward, one of the toughest defensive groups to play against, and a pretty good tandem in net. Wonder what others think of this group.
