Being that I am in Vermont, I am forced to watch this game on NESN and these announcers must be the stupidest announcers I've ever heard.
It all goes back to the time out Torts took, which we all knew, he likes to do if we get an icing and the line has been out there for a long time. So he calls time out.
At the intermission, the "expert" analysts are saying how Torts is trying to send a message to his team because he is playing bad, they need to step it up or they'll lose, etc etc. So they interview Del Zotto (sweet goal eh?) and they ask him about it and he says something along the lines of well you know they were out there for a while Torts wanted to give them a rest.
So they come back to the game and the play by play guys were like no that's not right he is just a rookie he doesn't know what he's talking about etc etc. And then the Rangers take another icing and they're like oh Del Zotto do you want another time out and started laughing.
Are you kidding me? These guys are ********** idiots! If I hear "another blast/bomb/rocket from Chara!" or "Chara's shot puts a dent in the boards!" or anything along those lines again I'm gonna lose it!
Yeah, Brickley had a hard time admitting that his call on the Torts timeout was idiotic. When he quipped after the second icing "So, you want another timeout now Del Zotto?" the answer is hell yeah, so did Torts. Unfortunately teams only get one timeout per game. Perhaps somebody should clue Brickley in.
Definitely one of the worse in the league. They are arguably just as bad as the FSN Pittsburgh announcers.
YES YES YES!!! Boston and Pittsburgh have the worst announcers in the league. I watch about 20-30 games a week and do play-by-play for my college hockey team, so I am involved with a lot of broadcasters and they are by far the worst...Along with Chico..

I'm a new yorker living in Vermont as well. Its like Chinese water torture having to listen to Jack Edwards.
I hate the duo, but today they were very humble and giving the Rangers credit. They would not shut up about Dubinsky. They love him.
Fir high entertainment, watch NESN when:
a) They play the Habs
b) when Komisarek is playing against them
Have to agree with that. They were annoying today and I was a little disapointed, because I've heard some great lines by those guys in the past.
Playing the Habs (They wore that red/white/blue vintage-stripesallovertheplace-jersey) last year and they called "Boston 2, Inmates 1"... lol'ed when I heard it at least.
My friend, a Bruins fan, texted me during the game telling me the MSG announcers were awful, that Sturm did not dive.
I texted him back that he was in no position to talk given his disgraceful Boston crew.
OT, but I really think that if Sam paired up with the SJ announcers (I really like them, I think they're great), you would hear the best trio of hockey announcers. JMO
I go to school in MA, so I watch a good number of Bruins games. Edwards is awful. He's a moron who knows next to nothing about hockey. Brickley at least has some clue what he's talking about, but Edwards is just a fool.
I had to watch the game on NESN tonight because I was in NH visiting my friend's school and skiing, and i gotta say Jack Edwards is the biggest homer I've ever heard(sorry Chico). Though i should give them credit for saying that penalty shot was a dive and for their obsession with dubie, I actually had to mute the TV for a while. Listening to them really makes me appreciate Sam and even Joe(even though he tends to be a homer himself some of the time). I missed the Del Zotto timeout comment though.
