Interesting stat

I know that we all feel that the D is letting us down this year. But, last season the D scored a total of 15 goals the entire year.....

This season, the d has produced 16.

As far as points goes, he had a total of 112 last year and this season we have 73.

I guess my point is the D is really producing much more then last year. Just wish the same could be said for our forwards.

Nice observation Frenzy! To take the stats further, the Blues' forwards have a combined 202 points so far this season through 44 games(4.59 pts. per game) and are on pace for a combined 376 points. Last season the Blues' forwards combined for 498 points(6.07 pts. per game).

The defense let us down offensively last season. This season it is the offense. If the Blues could get solid offensive production from both forwards and defensemen in any given season they would be a formidable team(hopefully we will see this soon).

Is there some site you're using to get those stats easily or is it just picking them off of NHL.com and adding them up? It would be interesting to compare the stats league wide and see where we stand.

Blues forwards that have equal or more points this season through their respective games played versus last season:

David Backes - 44 Games
Jay McClement - 44 Games
Alex Steen - 30 Games(Tor/Stl)
Yan Stastny - 4 Games

Even if you add Stastny(who has only played 4 games) there are still only four forwards getting equal or better production from the 08-09 season.

I ran those numbers myself using hockey-reference.com. Crunching the numbers league wide would be a tall task.
