OT: AMAZING home skating rink

Just stumbled upon this while I was bored at work, and noticed that not only is there a dude wearing an Oilers Smyth jersey, but also the logo at center ice is that of the oil.

So that leads me to assume this is in edmonton somewhere, and that is friggin incredible.

Did any of you have a rink in your yard as a kid?

And yet some doofus in a red jersey needs to wreck an otherwise nice picture

Wasn't that made for a backyard rink contest a few years ago?

I drove by Daryl Katz house a couple weeks ago (yes, I am a stalker) and noticed he has a full sized rink in his front yard with real boards and plexi glass....must be nice

This thing would be the ultimate Gretzky-developing facility.

Seriously, I just think about how much hockey I would have played if I had something that kick ass in my back yard all the time that literally was never closed.

I did. Obviously nothing anywhere near as good as that. But it was fun to play on. I remember one year we got this Wayne Gretzky ice rink maker thing which was essentially this thing with wheels on it that you pushed. It had a towel dragged behind it (presumably to flatten the ice) and a bunch of wholes to spray water out the bottom of it. It sucked as bad as it sounded like it does. lol Nothing worked better than my dad hosing it down and simply dragging us around the area on a crazy carpet to flatten it out.
