Prospal close to returning(maybe Tuesday)

Vinny Prospal spoke to the media during the game today. He is close to returning from his knee surgery. Tuesday makes two weeks since had the surgery. They said 10 days-3 weeks.

If no setback, could return to lineup Tues vs. Devils...

Prospal skated 45 min this morning, "harder session," than first skate in Atlanta..."Did everything, even score, there was no goalie."

Great news. Question is, do we break the 1st line?

Please sit Brash, it'll really let a few people slide into places they belong.

Dubinsky-Christensen-Gaborik
Prospal-Drury-Callahan
Higgins-Anisimov-Kotalik
Avery-Boyle-Lisin

Yes. Prospal will produce more long term with Gabby imo..

Christensen now has the inside edge on Boyle.

But.... most like Boyle on the pk (and so does Torts).

So..another question... Who does he replace in the line-up? Lisin??

Brash is the easy answer (the guy is done), but this team is soft enough as it is.

No, dont fix it if it aint broke. Christy is playing so well right now you simply have to go with hot hand. Once Christy cools off you make the change.

I don't think so we tried Prospal at center with Dubinsky and Gaborik on the wings, this could be lethal. Really tough call.

switch avery and higgins and i'll buy that. When crusher cools off we can revert back to the old lines but I like what he's been doing so far with gabs and dubi these last few games.

edit: that lineup also becomes soft as charmin, perhaps brash stays and lisin sits?

Good to hear.

I would love to see the Prospal/Christensen/Gaborik line.

eh, we'll see, I think Dubinsky's ability along the boards and in front of the net were what helped make that line work. I don't think Prospal can quite do the same. He's not as strong on the boards as Dubinsky is

^ Agreed!

For some reason Tortorella seems desperate to always have Prospal on the first line.
Please spread the talent around. Maybe Prospal helps the second line score more.

im questioning this move to put Dubi down a line... I'm just not understanding why we would tamper with a line that has been very effective

Prospal returns, Christensen remains on Line #1

Prospal - Christensen - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Drury - Callahan
Higgins - Anisimov - Avery
Voros/Brashear - Boyle - Lisin/Kotalik

http://twitter.com/AGrossRecord
_______

Dubi's been "hot" while playing on the Top Line... I personally would've liked to see Prospal on Dru's wing for a game or two.

don't like it. The first line has been hot the last games, you shouldn't change that. As I wrote in another thread, I'd keep the first two lines and let Vinny play wing on the 3rd with Anisimov and Avery. But let's see how it works out.
Nice to see Christensen getting rewarded for his effort, though.

I like this a lot. I think Duby will play his best on a grinding type of line. I think it tailors to Drury as well. The second line has a lot of potential. Christensen should not be broken off Gabby's line yet. Keep him there while he's on a roll.

It's our 2nd line because we don't have many 2nd line players. Dubinsky is a Top 6 player though. Callahan borderline 2nd liner, Drury very good 3rd liner.

Not a fan of this either.

Prospal cooled down considerably before his injury and Dubinsky has 12 points in his last 10 games. Hopefully Dubi gets the 2nd line going, they need someone who is capable of dishing the puck and entering the zone. Dubi has also shown some chemistry with Cally in the past.

Unhappy with this.

Would rather have Prospal's passing with guys like Drury and Cally, who NEED to have a better puck distributor on their line.

Exactly, Loffen. Flip Dubinsky and Prospal and I'd be very happy.
