When Gainey makes a move, it always comes out of left field and everybody's like "lolwut?"

So I don't put any value in those rumors.

If Gainey can pull a trade around Halak and Carcillo, i'm a very happy camper.

Personally I prefer to Halak to Halak. Halak is a bum and trading Halak for him would be a huge mistake. Besides, there's no way Gainey would ever trade Halak for Halak as he'd be the laughing stock of the NHL.

I just hope that Gainey will NOT make any more trades this year. He is very bad at it !

He traded his first pick last year (2008 draft) to get Tanguay... We could have had Eberle !

You shouldn't analyze pro sports team management, because you're very bad at it.

That's like saying we could have picked Hossa but took Ward...if they had the pick Eberle may not have been on the radar.

Gainey made that trade under the pressure of getting the Francophone player. It back fired, that's why he said screw it and totally rebuilt this summer and let the UFAs go and got rid of the players that weren't making it in Montreal.

He will get good value in Halak, he couldn't get anything in Chip because he is a dime a dozen player. As for Gui, we got another player who needed a change and although all the bandwagon Gui fans are crying this one is up for debate for a while, not for a hot streak.

That's a good one. I guess this is where I say something like "I'm rubber, you're glue..." or something to that effect.

No we couldn't have had Eberle, unless we traded up for that pick. Our pick was 25th (Greg Nemisz) while Eberle was 22nd.

Yet again, you've failed and you dare say other people don't know what they're talking about ?

Eberle was already gone when Calgary used our pick.

Edit [Doh! Already mentioned I see]

Wow after reading the thread title I thought we got Marty St-Louis, Dallas Drake and a Philly sandwich for Halak.

Halak + weber is enough?

Someone screenshot this post and turn it into a fail post for failblog.com.

Sadly, this is one of the best proposals on here...

This actually makes perfect sense for Gainey. By trading Halak, he'd have to fill the back-up goaltending role and Halak would do that nicely. Plus, in this day and age, you have to match salaries in a trade to make it work. I believe Halak makes roughly the same amount as Halak, so there would be no cap implications.

I say do it Bob!!

I came up with a brilliant proposal than pwned myself for being a dumbass...

I want Chris Stewart so bad

A. Colorado does not have cocaine, hence their GM's arent crazy
B. I though Anderson was signed for 1 year
C. Colarado is not on crack
D. Halak would not be swapped for Stewart straight up unless we added some MTL strippers and a whole lot more (they may even ask back for patches in which case I would ask back for a good d prospect)
E. Wouldnt Stewart be sex on the third line till he developed into a top 6'er (imo could be one already)
F. Everything I said makes no sense so Johnny Cochrane and Chewbacca wins...

This has the makings of a great template!

I personally don't want another whiney Russian player that picks up his ball and goes home when he's not getting his way. He'd have no easier of a time under Martin than he got under Hitchcock. If he wasn't committed to backchecking he'd be in the stands or the AHL.

Is the order of who I want the most. I can definitely see the Blues being a good trading partner. Not sure if they're willing to part with any of these guys though.
Give me Berglund, please.

Why do you say it backfired? because he got injured after being one of our best forward with 40 pts in 50 games??
Or because Gainey decided not to retain him after trading for Gomez, since they are so similar and because he opted to go with shooters instead with Gio and Camm

What is a goaltender worth?

Save percentage - 4th
Goals against average - 13th
Shots on goal against per game - 3rd
Offensive support (goals per game) - 28th
Record - 12 wins 6 losses 1 otl (equivalent to 107 points over 82 games)

Goal scorers like Perron are exciting but goaltenders can win a lot of games and not get a lot of attention. Halak has excelled in every league that he has played in.

If Halak was on the block, teams should be lining up outside of Gainey's door with something more than draft choices to offer. The draft is such a crap shoot and even many first rounders, as we so painfully know, don't turn out. Second round choices and career backup goaltenders would interest me even less if I was Gainey.
