Live is the better service by far too... Nothing like a monthly fee to keep devs accountable. Sony and their devout play the 'free' card to escape accountability for a below standard network and interface.
I don't see the difference. PS3 Network play is just as good as xbox's (And I have tried both out). There was a lot of things left out on that 'review to destroy the PS3' they forgot to add. They must have forgot how the graphics engine is better than the xbox meaning they won't need to make a PS4 for at LEAST 4-5 years, while xbox will need a new system in the next 2-3 years. The PS3 also has a good record on malfunction issues. There hasn't been one time where the PS3 had 'overheating' issues, Blu Ray issues, etc. Not saying it's perfect, but the failure rate is way below the xbox. Also, xbox screwed up on the HD DVD format. Instead of doing research before making it, they jumped WAY too early and made a lot of consumers mad about not having any use for the HD DVD players they all got. Also, if you look at the games graphic wise, you won't notice one difference. The FPS is the same. No difference between the two. But PS3 does have one step on the xbox, and that's the graphics engine and the potential to make xbox wish they went the same path as Sony. Not saying xbox is bad, but it does have it's faults, like the PS3 'apparently' has.

But on topic, the Wii is great.

Hey Jimmi,

Why the dislike for the 360? I have both the PS3 and the 360, and I play my 360 so much more. They are both good systems but I get all my multiplatform games for the 360 because my friends list is bigger. I mostly use the PS3 for exclusives and Blu-ray, which it does a good job.

Have you tried the Xbox at all?

The PS3 was given the number-eight spot on PC World magazine’s list of "The Top 21 Tech Screwups of 2006," where it was criticized for being "Late, Expensive, and Incompatible"

GamesRadar ranked the PS3 as the top item in a feature on game-related PR disasters, asking how Sony managed to "take one of the most anticipated game systems of all time and — within the space of a year — turn it into a hate object reviled by the entire internet"

Gabe Newell of Valve said "The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think it's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted". He continued "I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a do over.

Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has criticised the PS3’s high development costs and inferior attach rate and return to that of the Xbox 360 and Wii. He believes these factors are pushing developers away from working on the console.

... even Kazuo Hirai, Chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment, said that the PS3 was intentionally difficult to develop for.

Here is what www.hardcoreware.net has to say in Jan 2009:

"In the end, I think we can say that multiplatform gaming is getting closer to parity, but it’s not quite there yet. The 360’s superior graphics power is especially applicable to multi-platform games"

link: http://www.hardcoreware.net/playstat...o-years-later/

Here is a comparison of Bayonetta:

"the difference is “night and day”. It’s not even funny – it is like a completely different game", "the 360 version of Bayonetta is the way to go", "On PS3 the game struggles to get anywhere near 30 frames a second (plus slowdown and tearing) but on the 360 the frame rate’s locked at 60.", "The image quality when the action is still (to my eyes) looks much the same, but when you see both side by side in motion there’s no comparison. When you play the very first scene in the prologue on 360 it’s clear that this is how Platinum Games intended Bayonetta to be experienced" - thesixthaxis (link: )

There are WAY more comparisons, but I'm getting tired of all of this. The only other argument that PS3-boys like to throw out is but you have to pay to be online. This is not entirely true, however, I'm actually glad to pay for gold membership, because I'm assured a standardized mechanism for online games (achievements, friends lists, in-game chat, out of game chat, cross game invites, etc). Halo3, cod mw2, any EA games, etc, all have a similar look and feel when matchmaking, and they are all pretty bulletproof in terms of on-line play.

It's true Wii is for entertaining with friends in your home, but 360 is when you want to do some serious online gaming with friends.
Wow man you have too much time on your hands, take it easy there. Last time I checked, games were supposed to be fun. Here's a revolutionary never-before-heard statement: it is possible that all 3 systems can be fun to play.

Sure I chose the PS3 but not because the other systems are horrible. I don't get why people are so anal about which system is better. Just enjoy playing games.

agreed. Every system has it's own perks. Leave it be.

I have Wii. I play it every now and then. It doesn't have nearly as good titles as PS3, PC or Xbox. It's much more party and casual gaming orientated. That said, you can still get solid gaming experience from it, you just gotta be very picky about the games you get. I recommend Zelda, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart Wii.

Me and my brother bought all three, the PS3 gets played the most for shooting games, the 360 we use for sport games, and the Wii was just a waste of money. The graphics were not next gen, though my little sister enjoys it very much, just like most Wii users do in that age category do.

Are you very good/comfortable with doing things like this? Are you fairly knowledgable with computers? If you feel comfortable doing it, I can probably direct you to the right place. You just need an SD card and some time. Make sure you follow all the instructions right or you can brick your Wii. If you are good with computers though, it shouldnt be too hard.

I have a 360 at my place, and I have access to all three.

It's not a dislike, it's looking at it realistically. It offers nothing over the other two, it's an average DVD player, which will give you issues at times, it's graphically inferior to the PS3, you have to pay to play online, and it's not as creative, interms of gaming, as the Wii.

The PS3, beyond the blueray, is a fantastic DVD player, and media center, it's also a great console in general.

I don't hate the 360, I'm just not a fan boy. It's the inferior console, because it doesn't offer anything over the other two.

Make sure you go to the Wii website to make sure what joystick/want works for what game. They have a chart with that info which isn't available in the Wii Console store.

I have all 3 consoles now (I still can't believe my wife let her brothers buy me one for Christmas, NEVER thought I'd see that day dawn), and I love that special freedom of not being hamstrung by a game being platform-exclusive.

On the whole I prefer my 360, but my PS3 will get a workout once GOW 3 is released.

You are looking at it from a purely hardware point of view, but don't you own the systems for games? If you went spec-by-spec between the 2 systems PS3 would win every time. But I own the systems for the games and I am not too worried about media center functionality.

You should try some of the games on the 360, your fanboy-ism for PS3 is stopping you from enjoying it. There are some great exclusives like Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, Fable and Dead Rising, plus the Gears of War and Halo series, but I think earlier you made an insulting comment about playing those.

If I didn't have an open mind I would never have played all of the 360 games plus great games on the PS3 like Uncharted

I have open access to all three, I own the 360 and a Wii. For me it's a big deal, because it's really nice to not have to have extra DVD player, because the console inferior in that regard.

Fanboy-ism? I love Nintendo, have ever since the NES (which I still own and play) and the Super NES( which I own and still play), if anything I'm more partial to the Wii of all three, regardless of it's "Graphic deficiencies"

GOW is fine, Halo is disgustingly overrated, and those other titles a very good, however it's not the lack of open mind, it's that the 360, beyond those few titles, doesn't offer a desire to want to play it, it's just not that special. It's the weaker cousin to the PS3 in terms of quality of play, and offers the same rehash of games, that, although pretty good, aren't special.

Look I get it, it's fun, it's alright, but just inferior of the 3.
