That top six is hardly intimidating.
All of these guys have had their way with the Rangers at one time or another. Of course, they were doing it in support of some stunning talent, but I'm just saying, you can't overlook the talent that remains.

Big mental test tonight. Can they get their heads into this one after the highs and lows of the Devils matchup?

They better be able to. If they want to make noise in the playoffs and move up into that top-tier in the East they need to win these games. This is what separates the Devils and the rest of the teams, they win the games they are supposed to win + some others.

Yeah, but it's the same people who are saying that CJ's going to be the next #1 goalie for the team after watching him play for 105 minutes. I wouldn't take them too seriously

The first time I went bowling my first shot was a strike. That must mean I'm gonna bowl a 300 game and must be the best bowler in the world. (I didn't get another one all game)

Yeah, Hank does give up really soft crappy goals. There's no goalie in the world that doesn't. If goalies didn't give up crap goals and didn't have bad games then they'd have GAAs of 1.5. All the whining is because of unrealistic expectations for a goalie to hold the opponent to 2 or less goals EVERY game.

For the record, hank has done that 24 out of his 40 starts this season (only counting regulation goals). Those starts accounted for 18 of his 20 W's!

We lost 6 times (both L/OTLs) when holding the opponent to 2 goals or less, and only managed to win twice when hank let more then 2 through.

What does that say about our offense? The rangers' problem is not in the net.. really wish people would stop *****ing about the occasional soft goal that goes in. The only reason those goals become so evident is because our offense isn't doing their job.

Mike Rupp wouldn't scare me either, but yet he found a way to get a hatty. Im just saying. the Rangers need to take them seriously- there is nothing worse then playing a team with nothing left to lose.

There is no team in this league that can't compete on any given night. The Senators might just rally around their goalies now that their coach got fired. Nothing is ever a given with the Rags.

I'm going tonight...this is looking like an easy win, but ya never know with the NHL.

Go out there, gain the lead early on, and never look back.

Seems like it... http://www.senschirp.ca/2010/01/mike...-to-start.html

Ian Mendes is reporting that there is a chance Mike Brodeur could start tonight for the Ottawa Senators. Leclaire was hit by a shot in practice apparently.

Meanwhile, back up Brian Elliott is sick.
We're in deep ****.

And um, if your goalie gets injured by being hit by a shot.. your team has some SERIOUS problems. Last time I checked it's the goalie's job to get in front of the shot.

I remember watching some AHL all-star game and seeing him there. Needless to say I was confused

Perfect spot for a 3rd string netminder to gain some confidence.

So we basically face an AHL team tonight? Great, this reeks of disaster. Sure, we look like negative whiners for saying stuff like this, but this team have a history of underperforming gravely against teams they should easily beat, because they simply outwork us.

the senators brodeur sucks.

His only NHL start looks relatively impressive until you start looking into it:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=291219014

They faced a team that only had 17 skaters + had all their equipment burn in a fire (literally) right before the game.

And look at his stats:
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p....php?pid=72635

a .891 save % would be crappy in the NHL, let alone the AHL.

Last season was .921, respectable but still not overly impressive for the AHL.

So yeah.. I'm not scared of this guy. He sucks in the AHL and posted one great game against a depleted team that couldn't even play with their own sticks.
