Lunndqvist at the end of his career could very well be a better one that those 3 you decided to consider. I don't care about career in this particular discussion. It is a different subject. Leave it off. Please.
Ideally, I would like to have a pool of hottest goalies of the day and play the best of them. Since it is not possible, my next preference would be to have a talented backup or two. That will make my starter nervous, which is exactly my objection.
It is my prediction that CJ is a correct material for the task.
Good thing you're not coaching this team. Your "make everybody nervous" theory is absurd. If there's a backup truly good enough to make Henrik Lundqvist "nervous" he's probably already playing regularly somewhere.
yes, lets figure out (magically of course) all the players who will play best tonight and give them the most minutes! its so easy, with a pool of players.
You're living in the past. His numbers are consistent in one respect: decline. Year after year. If defense is to blame for his numbers, it would have had no room to get any worse. I will be the happiest fan on the face of the earth should he continue to play like he does now. I doubt it, though. Can we win SC with Lundqvist? Absolutely. But we are not building contender due to lack of true interest from the ownership. The best we can do is 2005-06 Rangers. That is why I want his old back. It won't happen.
Lundqvist is not on the decline. Prove it.
What are you *****ing about if you agree that we can win the Cup with Lundqvist?
Lundqvist is a piece to building a contender. A big piece. No, I don't like most of Sather's signings but I like what he's doing bringing up the young kids (i.e.: Anisimov, Del Zotto) not all at once. Building a younger team in front of Lundqvist.
Those goalies you say that are "better" than Lundqvist is totally ridiculous. How many GM's do you think would pass over Lundqvist for Bryzgalov (sp) if they were to draft him, and at the same time, knowing what he's gonna bring into the League? You're such a pessimist.
And about me living in the past... Lundqvist was one of the best with those nominations of the Vezina. Yeah, those were in the past, but what makes you think he's on the decline? Because he's of his high glove side? lol Face reality.

And that's including part time goalies, like Rask and Varlamov, who have played less than half of Lundqvist's games. Take them out, and he's 3-6 spots higher each year.
So he finds himself top 10 on a pretty regular basis.
EDIT: Numbers in parentheses represent where he'd rank among goalies with 50+ starts. I don't think it's statistically relevant to compare starting goaltenders to guys that play 15-30 games per season.
And during the solid start we had this season I attributed that to his strong play. You see, we are the crappy team. Because of that we live and die by our goalie. That is why I rant about him, nothing else.
How many goalies lose a game and still get a shutout... Hank sucks alright...

Yes, because that's what you should really waste your energy ranting about. Nevermind the actual problems with this team.
