What is the Rangers official time since their last goal?
If I was mean, i'd have said one week. But I'm not, so we didn't score a single **** goal in exactly 144 minutes and 23 seconds. Since Christensen's early goal in the third period against Boston, one week ago...
Can't say Blues GM John Davidson isn't a visionary when it comes to doing what it takes to give his team an edge for winning games.
After seeing the Blues next opponent, the New York Rangers, shut out twice this week, first by Devils goalkeeper Martin Brodeur, then again by Mike Brodeur of the Ottawa Senators, "JD" has announced the signing of Max Brodeur from Casper, Wyoming, and that Brodeur will start in goal against the Rangers Saturday night in St.Louis.
Brodeur was as stunned as anyone else at the press conference:
"It's not often a 67 year old guy like me gets a chance to play professional sports, but like I told my wife when the Blues called, sometimes even I get bored watching Matlock all day.", the retired shop teacher remarked.
1st line ----> simply put, they were performing and looked like a more complete line than even the early season Prospal-Dubinsky-Gaborik line. Christensen's performance may have been a short lived mirage, but until he proves that it was, you gotta put that line back together.
2nd line ----> couple of points here: 1) Something that has gone widely unremarked is that Lisin's good and bad games (IMO) almost always correspond to whether he's playing RW or LW - for some reason, he seems much more effective on the right side; and 2) when Lisin does play well, he makes offensive plays that guys like Kotalik, Avery, and especially Voros/Boyle/Brashear can't handle. He and AA looked really good together in preseason and we're not scoring anyway, so **** it - let's try them back together and put another player with some offensive acumen on the line with them.
3rd line ----> these guys are all third liners based on their offensive production, so play them on the third line. Stop looking for them to produce what they can't. Honestly, IMO they're all best suited as third line WINGS, but someone has to play center, so Drury goes there. Also, Avery goes at C or LW, never RW.
4th line ----> I don't want to see Brashear again. I honestly think he's done - at least for this year. And as frustrating as Kotalik is, he's no worse than Voros, especially if you drastically limit his minutes. This way you preserve him for the SO and the PP (although let's move him back to the second unit).
Absolutely agreed with most of this. I think Lisin and Cally are flip-floppable though.
