Sather should have signed Orr and not even look at this fossile, both John Scott and Boggard are UFA this summer btw

Boggard is the better fighter Scott the better player. Boggard has a very bad back and is destined to be a Flyer,

who cares if Brashear is hurt. He has been useless anyway. Sit out the rest of the year, go to the IR so it's off the cap. Play that other bumb Voros then worry about how crappy Brashear is and the cap space he takes up later

Brashear's contract is not nearly the worst.

1.4 million for 2 years is hardly what's crippling this team.

Dumb contract, but it's the least of our worries.

He's done!
Forget fighting the man can't even throw a big check! Sad.
Hopefully he's a proud man and pulls a Nasland.

Me too.

WTF?!

Why the hell why? WHY? What the hell do we need a ******* useless crap enforcer for?!! We just dropped friggin' Orr for a ******* reason! What the ***** *** ****** ******!

Please. These must be a stupid rumour, because it defies all logic and reason.
I was so mad I even used a new smiley. "Useless crap enforcer" pretty much explains Huggybear's new role on the team.

We are throwing $1.4 million a year worth of cap space at a guy who is giving us absolutely NOTHING for it. And we can't do anything about it for TWO YEARS.

This contract is part of our overall worries for sure. It's not the only bad contract, but considering the return it's an absolutely brutal decision by Sather.

Just because there are other bad contracts also crippling this team, that doesn't mean this contract isn't a disaster too.

A team can afford a few million in bad contracts. (and most teams are overpaying someone who's underproducing. You'd be hard pressed to find a team who doesn't have a contract you'd like to dump)

We however, have 20 million in bad contracts.

I hated the Brashear signing because we all hated the cheap shots and fights he gave us

But now he CANNOT EVEN WIN FIGHTS ANYMORE..he's completely useless so not only do I hate him, he brings nothing that made him who he was anymore.

I'm not arguing there's anything right or good about the brashear signing. It was 100% stupid and wrong especially after the betts incident.

I'm just saying we have much worse contracts to worry about then this one.

This thread made me look up the Orr VS Carkner fight...man do I miss that guy. Even though he did get tagged in the rematch, he bounced up like it was nothing.

Wth was Sather thinking...

Completely agree. I hate the bum but we have so many other problems it's ridiculous. I even saw someone post here it was one of the 5 worst signings he has seen as a Ranger fan. I figure he must have become a fan within the last 2 years then

just saw both fights Brashear vs. Carkner.... Brashear is a f....ing disgrace!!!!! Sather is the real moron for giving him a retirement bonus of $2.8 million.... if Brashear has any sense of honor, he'd donate half of it to the poor people in Haiti...

On the flip side, if the Rangers are in the market for a rental player to head down the stretch and into the playoffs with, $1.4 in annual cap space rents a player with a $5-$6M cap hit.

The bottom line is that Brashear is a guy who isn't even capable of playing the game anymore, and arguably wasn't when he received a contract with a guaranteed cap hit for 2 years. If it was just 1 year, OK, I think the fan base could rationalize it.

It was a terrible contract from the jump. 1.4 mill for a player that cant do anything and is on a team that is capped out is awful. Amazing that sather continues to get a free pass 10 years into his mediocrity.

Agreed... looks to me like the stick went acroos the collarbone area.

And Green was flying around the ice on the very next shift.

Hmmm I thought it was 1.4 per season. Okay not that bad then but still the guy needs to retire. We have no one on the farm who can drop em better than Voros?

Why haven't we seen Byers again? He didn't play bad earlier.

Byers is by far a better hockey player then Voros or Brashear but is worse then both when it comes to fighting. Soryal is a midddle weight that can't skate and just had his face broken into pieces. The best route is a free agent in the summer

Brashear is actually Tort's fault. He's the idiot who pushed for getting Brashear (and throwing out our entire 4th line).

This is what I said back on July 1st.

"I prefer Orr to the huggy bear. I don't really get this signing. Hopefully he sucks in training camp and we bury him in the minors because 1.4 mill for a player sitting in the stands is too much. Or maybe that is Sather's master plan, sign the guy, then demote him to the minors as punishment for the cheap shot on Betts."

I stand by that.

It is.

Should've said "1.4 million / year for 2 years.

And retiring means we still have a 1.4 million cap hit.

I don't care though, this guy's negative value on the ice. I'd rather eat the cap hit and have a guy like voros play.
