OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports the following: A league source claims NY Rangers GM Glen Sather has reached out to the Tampa Bay Lightning and another source claimed Vincent Lecavalier is on the market. It’s believed the Rangers are offering up Matt Gilroy, Wade Redden and either Brandon Dubinsky or Ryan Callahan but Redden would be a non-starter for the Bolts. The problem is it would be very difficult to convince Lecavalier to waive his movement clause as he’s very happy with the Lightning…
Wow thats just brutal. I'm all for the fire sale as we really just need to get it over with already and start anew. But Really???? Really????????????? If Lawton pulled on that deal, I'll personally hold his noose when he decides to hang himself.
Krieder, 1st in 10 + Roster player here
Then we can actually have a serious discussion about shipping him off.......Yeah that trade was just......

That report, according to Lawton, is "completely false." Lawton laughed and said he hasn't even spoken to Sather in weeks.
"He hasn't contacted me to inquire about that," Lawton said. "That absolutely did not happen."

“The fact of the matter is he hasn’t scored as much as he would like to from a goal standpoint,’’ Lawton said. “But I still think it’s going to happen for him. I still think he gets 30-plus goals. It will take a big push for him to get that, but I still think he is capable of that. He’s that type of a player. He’s that dynamic and he has that skill level. He just has to get it out of himself.’’

I think Lawton has every right to get upset about it. Vinny has tenure and from a monetary standpoint is merchandising gold, regardless of his on-ice production. And considering the players coming over don't total enough talent to make it worth it, makes it especially insulting and implies that Lawton would look like a sucker if the deal happened.
There will always be trade talks. NMC, 11 year deal, etc... all means nothing to the fans and the media. Lawton shouldn't get mad, as it should be expected. It will always be dug up and fantasized about when Vinny faces the rangers with Tortz or when he "goes home" to Montreal. If I was Lawton I wouldn't even feel like I had to address some rumor.
