even if drury waives his NMC, there is no way we get a 1st round pick straight up for him.

A second rounder would suffice...

We need a government bailout of AIG proportions to get out from under the Drury, Redden and Rozy contracts. We aren't going anywhere with those 3 on the books for 19M+ per. I know it is restating the obvious but there is no way around it.

no way colorado gives up an 18 year old NHL player who has 18 points for a 7 million dollar player who has 16 points.

Some of the other deals seem plausibly but i dont think they help us at al in the great scheme of things. Souray for roszival i would do in a heartbeat though.

Most of these proposals aren't horrible.

I would say COL would say no, you'd have to add some enticements to make them take Drury. I also think PHX would want more and could get more for Mueller. And, I think you need to add a pick to the NSH proposal as well. Why would they want Brash?

I like the roster you put together, but I'd prefer we keep Prospal one more year.

The only thing that sounds ridiculously stupid is putting Grachev on the 4th line. If we do that, we might as well leave him in Hartford for one more year getting 1st line minutes.

Also, I highly doubt that Colorado would give us a 2nd round pick for Captain Cash. No way. I just hope Sather takes a few GM's out bar hoppin' so he can get them wasted and ******** them into trading for Drury... And Redden and Rozsival.

****, I'd give them our 1st round pick just so they can take Drury off of our hands. Just get rid of that wasted space and that contract.

yeah uhmmm this whole "absolute makeover" or "tear it down and start over" mentality needs to go. That's pretty much what we did last season.

And some of these proposals were f-ing hysterical, thank you. Drury for O'Reilly and a second rounder? HAHAHA

Kotalik back to Edmonton?

What we need to do is just get rid of the parts holding us back (Drury, Redden, Roszival, Kotalik, Brashear)

We have to pretty much let Drury ride out his contract. Redden can be bought out..Roszival traded, Kotalik traded, Brash? Well, one can only hope he goes on LTIR sooner than later.

There's little to no reason for any of these teams to take the players we'd be sending, especially for the players we're asking for in these proposals.

Even if you throw the contracts out, Drury isn't worth more than a 4th rounder at best. Alone.

And if we trade a 2nd rounder for Mueller, I'm going to be very pissed off. Even if it's someone elses 2nd rounder.

Well it certainly beats watching the Rangers for most of this year - especially the past 3 games. If this posting of ideas upsets you so much that it causes you to spread tantrumized comments to the actual starting of idea interaction and not to the actual thread itself - please ask a Mod to sticky a shake/trade proposal thread and we can post there. Otherwise - take a hike, buddy...

Beyond the first 2 trades I don't think most of the other moves are realistic.

Not sure why Nashville trades Belak for Braesher, who has an extra year left on his deal.

Not sure why Edmonton, who is terrible, would move one of their veteran trade chips for Roszival and Kotalik, who are both underachieving veterans themselves who Edmonton would have to overpay for a few more years. Plus if Edmonton wanted Kotalik at his salary they would have kept him last season. I think Edmonton would want some younger players for Souray.

Not sure why Colorado trades anything of value for Drury.

Signing Kovalchuck isn't a bad idea, but we can only do that if a team took Drury without sending a bad contract(s) back to us. You figured out the part about moving Drury, but again why would Colorado take him without sending back 6-7 million in bad contracts?

And last comment... Volchenkov is a very good defenseman and fairly young for a UFA. How in the world could we get him to sign for 3.8 million for 3 years? We gave Roszival more than that and he's half as good. Considering your roster for next year is already over the cap I don't think signing Volchenkov is possible either.

Volchenkov is very good, I would be ecstatic if Sather was able to sign him while moving Rozsival and Redden. The guy blocks a ton of shots and hits, something that is always needed on the back-end.

-Oilers had Kotalik. They didn't resign him, why would they trade assets for him now?

-Why would the Caps give up a second round pick for a rental?

-Maloney turned down a deal for Sanguinetti, saying he wants a young NHL player in return for Mueller... why would he take BYERS(a fringe 4th liner at best) instead of Sanguinetti for a 21 year old first round pick???

-Higgins for garbage(Artyukhin is GARBAGE) and a 5th?????? HORRIBLE asset management.

-Drury has a FULL NMC. And even IF he waived it, why would Colorado want his 7+ mil per for the next two years???

-Why would we deal Brashear for Belak(who sucks) when we could just bury him in Hartford for a a year and a half?

No offense, but these proposals are off.

no way. that's just brutal for the Avs. Even if you disregard the $7M albatross you get with Drury, no way O'Reilly gets traded. A 2nd? Sign me up. Even that seems like wishful thinking. Drury is going at 1/2 his regular season output and even if he was at his regular 60 pts a season pace, he'd be barely worth a 2nd. But then I think about what we got for Gomez and my mind is blown. Something like this.

i dont see us packing it in this year if we are close to a playoff spot at the deadline.

could a possible trade of roszival and girardi to anaheim for marchant+ work out for both sides? anaheim doesnt have the issues with this cap wise but maybe they would prefer to look elsewhere.

try and trade kotalik at the draft.

Ilya Kovalchuk ($8.000m)/ Artem Anisimov ($0.822m) / Marian Gaborik ($7.500m)
Sean Avery ($1.938m) / Brandon Dubinsky ($1.850m)/ Ryan Callahan ($2.300m)
Evgeny Grachev ($0.933m) / Chris Drury ($7m) / Enver Lisin ($1m)
Donald Brashear ($1.400m) / Todd Marchant (1.125m) / Brian Boyle ($0.525m)

extra: Aaron Voros ($1m)

Marc Staal ($3.000m) / Michael Del Zotto ($1.087m)
Wade Redden ($6.500m) / Matt Gilroy ($1.750m)
Bobby Sanguinetti ($0.855m) / Michael Sauer ($0.850m)

Henrik Lundqvist ($6.875m)
Chad Johnson ($0.850m)

57.16m cap hit for next year.
