what if we don't trade either Goalies ?

I hope this wont turn into a WE HAVE TO TRADE ONE THREAD

I think that if Gainey can't get anything for either, he should keep both and wait and see what kind of offer either one gets in the summer and then he can match the offer that is the lowest or the one that makes the most sense to him.

I think that Gainey will never trade Price and taht he shouldn't trade him anyway.

I also think that he shouldn't trade Halak if he don't get a player that will give him more wins than Halak this season, and I don't see any team giving that kind of player.

Halak will sign with another NHL team, or, worse, bolt for the KHL (in which case we lose him for literally nothing).

This is why, like it or not, Gainey has to choose between the two goalies before July 1st.

Both MUST stay.

He's got to acquire some 4th line character player that will boost the rest of the line up, and get rid of a couple of vets D-Men that are going nowhere.

A.K is gonna be back eventually...

But they gonna miss the playoffs anyway. The first excuse they gonna give in the post season press conference will be the number on injuries suffered by their top players.

Why in the blue hell do you (and others) get that Halak will bolt to the KHL?

First of all, he's not even from Russia. He's a Slovak.

Secondly, he came over here IN JUNIORS to play hockey because he wanted to play in the NHL. He's good enough to be a starter in this league. He's not going to leave after backing up and playing in the AHL for 4 or 5 years. He knows it's just a matter of time.

What if Gainey doesnt either goalie?

In a night where one of our goalie lets in 2-3 goals in a row, they will start to hear the fans the other goalie's name.

And then both of our goalie would want to get the **** out of this town as soon as possible, become great goalie in their respective team while the Habs will be on another dilemma between two young goalies.

Maybe because he knows if stays here he will once again spend another season behind Price.

If he stays here he will get what 1.5M?, 2M? he can easily double that over there.

Of course it always depends on what you get back but I don't know how long you can sit on your only position of strength. You have two guys capable of being a number one goalie and you are a fringe playoff team and today looking from the outside in.

There are other teams in similar situations and the goalie market gets smaller.Nashville has two capable number 1 goalies. Anaheim has to make a decision at some point, Boston has Rask waiting.

The goalie market isn't good and likely will get worse as teams make there decisions. The biggest benefit Montreal has is age. Price or Halak would be a long term solution for teams.

Isnt he restricted? If so How can he decide 100% where he plays.

Why would he not want to stay if Price is gone?

i said that under the assumption Price resigns. If so, no way Halak wants to back him up anymore. Either he signs elsewhere or holds out IMO.
