didn't watch the TO game live so I didn't see any of the comments from that GDT but... IMO there was no point even trying to win that game. What a frickin travesty though - those idiots in Toronto are under so much pressure to win - they get embarassed 6-2 and Carcillo rubs their face in it and the whole town and all the media calls them wusses and they basically have to come back and either win or injure somebody trying. What a joke at the end there. If Cote were out on the ice at the end of a blowout punching Kessel in the head he - well the refs would have thrown him out of the game 2 seconds after the puck dropped.
This game is great but this league is a joke.
Anyways- throw that game out with the dirty diapers. We'll see what this team is all about today. I'm not overly optimistic but Flyers games and most hockey games are nearly impossible to predict.
I hate/love playing the caps. OV is the best player in the world so it is always a treat to get to see him play, but it sucks because he owns the Flyers. Tough break to get his first start back against OV and the Caps. Should be a good game either way.
I don't pretend to know what's best but I'd leave Leighton in for one more game. Not that Emery's confidence is going to get ruined by the best shooter in the world but... on second thought I don't want Emery's confidence ruined by the best shooter in the world.
I'm thinking the Flyers need to score at least 4 to have a chance.
We hate the Capitals. The Capitals hate us. It will be an interesting game. There have been some wild ones between these two (07-08 playoffs, 7-1 win despite being outshot 48-28). The stinker the last time we played them wasn't an indication of what this team is, everything had hit the fan at the same time and the guys played afraid. I think they'll be up for this game.
Last game at the Phonebooth had the boys blowing a 2-0 lead in five minutes at the end of the second. I was there with my dad and we could tell they were gonna lose in the third.
The trick to playing the Caps is to play hard for all 60 minutes (John Madden wisdom there). Sooner or later Ovie will end up all alone with the puck, and then you need your goaltender to rob him. I've been to four games here and the pattern has been win-OT loss-win-loss, none of them blowouts.
