Sykora on Waivers

Petr Sykora is on waivers from the Wild. I wanted the Flyers to sign him in the offseason. Anyone think there is a chance to sign him now? I think his salary is only $1 mil. I'd consider claiming him.

Im not sure what his exact stats against the Flyers are but, I feel like he is a Flyer-killer.

$1.6mm. Sykora has the ability to help a team, but I don't think there's enough cap room to claim him right now.

A lot of players get waived by worse teams and turn up on a good team and make an impact. His contract is bigger than I thought, but let's say someone gets injured...I'd rather have Sykora come playoff time than Pyorala or another guy from the A.

Sykora stopped playing hockey a while ago. He is just a contract now.

Wonder if Devils give him another shot. Unlikely.

He was never that great anyway. Plus he was on the three worst teams a player could be on: Debs, Rags and Pens.

If claimed (and I'm not necessarily saying they should claim him, given that his salary is a lot more than I thought it was to begin with) I could see him replacing Asham or at least being a good security blanket if someone with scoring ability goes down. But at $1.6 million he is a little to expensive for a security blanket.

prospal got waived by the lightning and i would have gladly taken him...unfortunately the rangers got him, and they are happy with him (34p so far, and for just 1milish)

crap teams waive guys so the club can turn a profit, not to win. I would GLADLY see sykora in orange and black.

hes been injured btw

The flyers will have a chance at him first but im sure Boston and Calgary would take a shot with him. We dont need him unless we have an injury to Gagne really.

I wouldn't touch Sykora with a 10 foot poll. He couldn't hack it playing with the likes of Crosby and Malkin, nor could he prove he can still produce in Minny. Why would we pick him up? Our bottom 6 is the strength of this team as far as I'm concerned and I wouldn't want him in our top 6. It'd be a waste of time and money.

For sure. We have struggled every time the bottom 6 gets injured or messed with. Im sure Sykora would fall into that slot and mess things up. I wish people would start waiving goalies...

I believe we picked up the last goalie waived, and it worked out pretty decently for us.

Lieghton was a WW pick up? Didnt know that I was away when we got him. That comment was more directed towards the many teams in the NHL that have multiple starting goalies.

didn't he score 27 last season before he injured his wrist late in the season?
if we had the cap space i would take a shot but no room.

Prospal was bought out, not waived and claimed. Big difference when a guy can be signed for less than half of what he would have been claimed for.

Why does everyone think that goaltending is the problem with this team? The goalies have played fine (aside form a stretch from Emery while he was playing injured). They haven't been spectacular, but they are certainly not the problem.
