Darche is big but he is not a banger, more like a skill player with size.

I'd put D'ago with Metro and Bergeron and scratch BGL

From what I recall he is not very physical and doesn't use his body as well as he should, hence playing in the AHL the last few years.

It works both ways:

Tony Marinaro: D'Agostini should be given the C

Seriously… Cammalleri and Plekanec can use a big (Ht: 6-1, Wt: 210-220) winger who can score goals (as mentioned by MathMan: "… he had 30 goals in the AHL last year and 16 in 32 games this year…") on their line.

However Carey Price – the poster! - mentioned that Darche does not use his body enough… so let's hope that Darche realises that this team could use a big body upfront and makes the most out of his opportunity while Sergei is injured.

No matter what… Darche can't do worst than D'Agostini!

Good call up. At least it's not White or Pyatt! Darche has something like 16 goals in 32 games and scored 30 last year. He does have some size. Why not? Not the saviour by any mean but it's worth the shot.

I cant take this team anymore..almost at the brink of closing shop but I wont....no offense to Darche...but im fed up of marginal players that bring no added value to this team.

I am fed up of lack of identity in our 3rd and 4th line...

the 1st two lines, we know their jobs but the 3rd line is just trying to shutdown when they can..and the 4th line is useless...

have you seen Moen play? He s doing his job but that guy brought so much more for the last 3-4 years...grit, fighting...etc.. he is just adapting to the morose ambiance that this team seems to have..

je suis pu capable..no one hits...no one fights... if the NHL was just about scoring, it would be called the swedish elite league

pu capable

And meanwhile Desharnais is more than a ppg player in the AHL and is snobbed while we need offensive talent on the first 2 lines...

I mean come on, he only has 38 points in 30 games...

Why would Desharnais be a snob?

It's not like he is a high profile prospect or 1st rounder...I'm sure he's pretty humble.

My source is the same one that fed doug mckenzie when he wrote:

The name of the source is Irony and obviously it flew way over your head; next time, I will make it easier for you to understand.

That's a promise!

The call-up speaks volumes about what Gainey is trying to do. Bring in more size with skill up front. Guess the Cogliano rumours are bogus.

no offense to Darche what so ever on my part. He might be another Steve Begin/Metro who knows but the clock is reallly ticking for him ...id say last sniff of NHL .wish him the best and if he got something to prove then id say this would be the time to lay it all out.

having said that , Gainey get on the phone please

Darche is a patch job and likely nothing more than that. All the GMs are working the phones but with so few teams out of it and all of them up against the cap, it'll be very, very difficult for anyone to make a deal until after the Olympic break.

I hope Martin doesn't pull D'Agostini from that line and completely ruins his confidence.

Who cares about D'Agostini? He's never been a great prospect so its not like we'd be holding back some tremendous potential of his. I doubt he ends up being more than a marginal NHLer, at best he can be a borderline 2nd liner that can score 20 goals on a good year.

The good of the team is more important than the confidence of D'Agostini. We can't afford to lose anymore so something needs to be done to make the Plekanec line score again.

Uhhh...he was pretty bad with the Bolts in 07-08, when he played with Brad Richards.

Can't see this as a good move. Especially when we have an opportunity to see what a youngster like Trotter can do.

Let's hope Darche plays well enough to force the habs to send Pacioretty down. This guy is losing his potential.

If Gainey/Martin absolutely wanted some cheap player with NHL experience why didn't they just claim Sykora from the waivers?
