Predators sign Klein to 3 year, $4.05M extension.

Will make $1.35M a year.

Unbelievable.

This was a one-year gig for Bouillon from the outset, I think. Hamhuis is definitely gone, but to replace him with someone who has even deeper troughs in his play is, at the very least, befuddling.

Probably, but I would rather have our defense look like

Weber Suter
Franson Hamhuis
Cube Blum?

thank

Weber Suter
Franson Klein
Blum Sulzer?

Hornqvist wasn't a 2nd round draft pick in a hugely deep draft

People are being too hard on him. He's taken huge strides since last year.

I was thinking $1M even, so it's slightly high.

Hörnqvist was a 21-year-old rookie (and, for the record, he still has a very weak shot, which was my biggest knock on him last year). Klein is a 25-year old in his fifth professional season.

too hard on him? he has been an on ice disaster every game outside of a small handful all season long and just got handed an extra $4 million.

1 goal 8 assist -8

oh and by comparison, Hamhuis who has been equally as bad has a +1 rating.

Klein is the worst dman on our team in that category.

Yes this is true.. Klein has had a bad year but last year he was ok for us.. I think and seems so does the management that he can turn it around.
I think it came down to hammi @ around 4 or Klen for 1.35
again like i said lets just hope he can turn it around.
and in the end I trust the management views who work with the kid everyay views over anyone here.. 1.35 for whos gona be one of our top 4 isnt bad..
seems to be the MO around here have a bad half session lets give up on them forever.. see Erat/Honri/Legs/Ellis last year

I think this was made to allow us cheap, experienced d going forward... We know Weber/Suter down the road will both make the big bucks. We can't have all rookies.
I would love to have Bouillon back also, but I can't count on Poile to pulll those kind of rabbits out of his hat next year.

I think Klein is inconsistent, but he looked so much better with Bouillon....

Wow the outrage at this is misplaced and silly.

We all knew this was coming, if not then you should take a look at the free agents. Hamhuis is done for at the end of the season and will not be back, Boullion may be back but its also possible he will be gone as well. If we lose Klein with the other two having a defense of 3 new players, likely rookies as well, is scary. We would be eaten alive. Even if we were able to get some Free agents having 3 new defensemen is not something that a team wants to do.

This signing is perfect. A 2nd pairing defenseman for 1.35 million a year and for 3 years when we have Ellis and Josi possibly coming up is great.

With all this said I still want Hamhuis and Klein broken up and never tried again.

+1 on every point. For all my gripes on KK this year, this is a great signing for the Preds. We need to lock in someone that has some experience and can eat up some minutes at a cheap price. We paid Greg DeVries $2.5M (granted, when we had to pay to attract someone to our circus). Greg Zanon got 3 years at 1.9M. We have a very young base coming up with Franson, Sulzer, Blum and Josi. KK still has upside, still will have trade value at that price and, most importantly, has to be better once Hamhuis is gone.

In fact, a conspiracy nut would say that Trotz has played the pairing to drive down the price of this contract-- look for the pairing to change now. In fact, maybe this sets the benchmark for Hammer at about $1.4M????

If the Preds consider a pay cut for Hammer he's gone so you might as well trade him.

It was humor, based on his equally pathetic play!
