I vouch for Jules on that and I add myself for this season. I've been a steady Carter supporter.

I have to say that I liked him with the beard.

How is the salary cap Bettman's fault? The league would probably have folded if they didn't install some sort of cap. I hate the guy as much as the next person, but come on!!

if there was no salary cap, the Preds probably dont trade Hartnell and Timonen to the Flyers. Upshall would be on the 3rd line with that forward group.

You must not know who Ed Snider is or what he's about.

I hope OKT gets more playing time. Yes, I know he tends to turn the puck over from time to time, but with more playing time, I think he will improve his game even more. I said this after last game, but I love OKT's physical play. He did the exact same thing last game. Emery made the save then Clark came skating over towards him and OKT got right in his face, pushed him back and might have gotten a punch in there.

'Kay. Enjoy watching KHL games on ****** choppy streams.

Anyone ever think that the salary cap may lay just a little bit at the feet of players who saw what NFL and NBA players were getting paid and wanted to be greedy too?

The Preds didn't trade Timonen and Hartnell because of the Salary cap, but because the team was more or less bankrupt and couldn't afford them anyway. They had to cut salary and assets that would probably not resign anyways. They could easily fit Timonen and Hartnell into under their cap right now. They don't even have one player with a cap hit above 4.5

As for Umberger: I wish we could get him back at the trade deadline or something. He is kind of cheap (3.75 cap hit) and I have the suspicion that he could develop into a prime time playoff scorer. We all know what he did against Montreal two seasons ago, but last year wasn't much different. Sure a weak Blue Jackets team got stomped down by the Red Wings, but Umby scored 3 goals in that series and was the only Jacket registered any goals in the first three games.

I liked the way he handled Boll even better, leveled him, then standing over him telling him who's the boss. Didn't see much more from Boll.

I know OKT will play better and better, he hasn't had a chance to show it yet, just let him play a few games.

Happy about his newborn son. Philip Tollefsen, cool name too. Congratulations!

Which is exactly what he was supposed to do and delivered. I give the guy a hard time but he looked much improved last night. Hopefully he keeps that up. Congrats on the son.

I see it in spurts and since Lavi took over, I'm seeing it a lot more. He has really played better since early in Lavi's tenure with the Flyers, even in the first few games when they were losing. When he adds a bit of grit to his game he's a stand out, he just has to do it every game.

I think he also looks like he's not trying because he's a smooth skater. You watch someone like Richards skate and he really works hard at it but with Carter he doesn't have as choppy a style so it looks like he isn't trying.

I love how SportsCenter spent more time on the amazing college basketball clips of a ball getting stuck on the backboard than they did on the Flyers game. I mean that is the type of sports coverage that makes them the worldwide leader! I mean come on people! A ball on top of the backboard!?!?! That is amazing. Not to mention the in depth reporting of Brett Favre's habit of slapping his teammates' *****. Just great programming and coverage on ESPN. I can't stress that enough.

I didn't know that either, until I read the article. I really hope there's a way he can return to the Flyers someday.

Umberger also had the most drastic improvement in skating and quickness in one off season ever.

Flyers tattoo must be awfully interesting in the locker room of CBJ.

Would you guys trade Hartnell for him? Maybe some kind of package? I think that I would be open to this, especially since he has a Flyers tat.

I agree. One of Carter's biggest strengths is his skating. Laviolette's system is all about movement and keeping your feet moving. Hopefully, Carter keeps it up because the two look like they could be suited for each other.

unfortunately almost every homer signing of any significance has a limited or no movement clause. The only guys who they can actually trade are the young guns, bottom 6 or prospects. Which means not alot of salary leaving, so not alot can come back, which is why a significant trade is unlikely. And i think Umby will be a FA before hartnell, so that won't work either. I'd rather have Knuble than hartnell at this point.
