I'll take the win and move on. To me its nothing more than 2 pts. I'm glad to see the boys took advantage of a bad team, but tonight Tampa flat out sucked. They are a bad team that was playing at their worst tonight.

So basically just keep Kotalik and Brashear out of the lineup permanently and we have some semblance of a team.

Makes perfect sense.

i loved this game. first of all, i strongly dislike tocchet.
second, i love seeing b-s 'toughness' ('heya you, we take outside') answered with skill and goals up the friggin' wazzoo. beauty.

My versus cut out also at the start of the third but I was watching it on a feed as well. Aren't Versus put up on Hulu (like NBC games)? I'm pretty sure they are up there as well.

First 8 games of January, 15 goals. Last 2 games, 14 goals.

and of those first 8 games.. 4 losses when your goalie holds it to 1 goal allowed...

Nothing says "Thank you fans" like scoring 8 goals on VS, so that all your fans with DirecTV can't see it. Seriously, I can't believe DirecTV/VS are still holding out.

.

Nice to see this team come out with some fire to start the game.

Set the tone and capitalize early.

Then quickly respond when the Lightning score a goal that should have been disallowed due to goalie interference.

They need to continue playing like this.

I know they will not continue to score at this pace, but they need to continue playing like this if they expect to stay in the PO picture.

beat most of the medicore teams, play .500 hockey against the elite and you have a team that is going to be comfortably in the PO picture.

They have 6 games remaining in January, they could go 4-2, but I would be happy with 3-2-1 to finish the month at 8-4-4

February is a short month due to the Olympics, but we have some pretty tough games as we visit LA and Pitt and play home games against the likes of Washington, New Jersey and Nashville.

We need to end January very strong so that is we hit a speed bump in February the losses won't hurt as much.

12 games in total before the break.

We need at the very least 6 wins. I'd like to see 8-9 wins, but I would be happy with 6.

Again, I'm really glad Dubinsky is getting in front of the net more often...his increased goal production is obviously a direct result of that

edit: Boyle also looked amazingly good last night, though Higgins actually looked depressed that he scored

Yeah Dubii isnt scoring the same pretty goals on stickhandling plays that he was his first or the beginning of his second season, but one can hardly complain with his current production.

well, the thing is that he wasn't scoring those "pretty" goals often enough

Haha, I noticed as well, but I thought that was cool, he didn't want to show up the opponent, I appreciated that.

that goal by VinnyL was pure crap! How in the world was that allowed?
No review??? So you can score goals in the NHL with your teamates
inside the oppositions net?

You know the first game the NYR do it, they'll call it off.

49 6 7 13 -10 0 0 0 0 1 32 119 5.04 102

with a line like that after 49 games and without a contract after this season and thus probably looking at leaving his hometown to find work.

depressed makes sense.

Higgins bumped Tanguay, so the refs decided it wasn't goalie interference. I think Tanguay took advantage and made sure he got more of Lundqvist than "necessary"

And last night, for those DVRing the game - Time Warner as well.

Cant believe i sat through what felt like a week of not scoring a single goal - and then the first game I miss seeing all season is the 8 goal "feel good" win of the year.

Guess thats just how it goes sometimes. :
