That didnt stop anyone before... Laraque didnt do anything to prevent it or fix it
I agree Laraque appeared (and looked) useless but perhaps it may get worse with him gone.
Maybe Bob still feels he needs a guy to fill the role.
Im sure the team toughness mandate is being echoed amongst the players but who's gonna answer when the Neil's, Orr's, Avery's, Thornton's go all stupid. Hopefully the powerplay; but still i think a player who can play hockey and fight would be beneficial.
Ryan Getzlaf
Bobby Ryan
Cory Perry
Saku Koivu
Mark Mitera
1st round pick in 2010
I believe you forgot the back up goalie, add Giguere too because what would go better with Parros great mustache than a full flowing beard of paul mara.
To Habs:
Ryan Miller, Tyler Myers, 7th round pick.
Reasoning - Habs trading a goalie means they need one in return, so we'll take Miller. The movement of Laraque means we need two D to play forward, meaning we are down to 6 D, thus we'll take Myers. I think its a pretty fair trade and Gainey resigns himself for 5 years after completing this.

I think Halak is better than anything the oil will pick up with their second rounder even if it is really almost a 1st rounder. Habs need to replenish the farm and Halak would get a very real chance at becoming #1 in Edmonton.

Halak won't be traded for a pick. We need a young player back who can help now and down the road while Edmonton only wants to move out high priced players. So, unless it's a need for need hockey deal the Oil aren't a good trading partner.
I think Dallas or St. Louis are better partners involving Halak.

Halak is worth a little more than a 2nd round pick. I would ask for JF-Jacques also. We need a physical guy

Habs probably wont make the playoffs, better to get picks.

To the Habs he is worth more but teams wont give up much more. JFJ isn't much more.

Habs want a young, affordable player for Halak in case they don't make the playoffs. A lot of salary needs to get moved this summer and the well is almost dry in Hamilton so they need a roster player who can play now, not a rental or just a pick.

Why do that deal right now? The Habs can do that deal at the draft or in the summer...
The Oilers look to be gunning for the top pick in this years draft and the Habs still have playoff aspirations...Halak helps the Habs in regards to a playoff push and getting a 2nd round pick isn't much help right now...Trading for Halak probably hurts the Oilers chances for the top pick this year..He as stolen games for the Habs and he would probably do the same for the Oilers...
If a 2nd round pick is all Gainey can get for Halak he is better off waiting until after the season instead of doing it right now IMO...

I didn't say WHEN, I want to get some picks for the draft. Habs are missing the playoffs this year IMO but I would like a good shot at maybe a player like Neidereiter in the draft.
If we end up with edmontons 2nd and our 1st falls around 14th/15th maybe that will be enough to trade for a top 10 and have a shot at the kid.

I like this trade because we just have to replace the first letter of Halaks name, thus saving money on a new jersy.
