I guess it's better that way. One poster report the Eklund fabricated stories to everybody here. Meaning all the fun, for less posters on his site. We need to have a designated Eklund posting...

Logically, who are our trading partners for Halak?

Contending teams looking for insurance or a better starter, or team that have crap goaltending. The latter is more likely and they're more likely to give us something decent in return.

Contenders.
I don't see anyone looking for help except maybe Chi. Phi and Ottawa could use some help but we won't get a decent team.

Worst Goaltending teams

Tor, Edm, Car, Columbus, Dal (Based purely on GA)

Tor.... no way in hell
Edm... they've got a lot invested in Khabibulin unless they can move him at the deadline.
Car... I'd take Whitney, but not liable to happen Ward's still good.
Columbus... I know nothing about this team and I think they have a couple good young goalies of their own.
DAL.... Most probable of this list.

just once eck could make a prediction, and work out

ever since the beginning of time, none yet

and if bob trades halak, it has to upside for the habs, no doubt about that

Up front we have a lot of good pieces, but we need more depth so we are not always relying on 3-4 players, especially when injuries hit.
I agree with everything you said except this.

Not only would he not love it, I don't think he would agree to it period. I doubt Souray would head to any Eastern Confrence team at all, but if he did, it would have to be a serious contender for him to even remotely consider it.

As for him being exactly what this team needs: Um, do you watch the team at all? If you think there biggest need is an offensive defenseman you're not paying attention at all.

This is dead wrong.

The Habs made plays for him dating back to his original trade for the Winnipeg Jets to the Mighty Ducks. Montreal tabled a pretty decent offer at the time but the Ducks made the better offer.

Each time he was a free agent, Montreal made overtures for Selanne as well.

I still think that it will be something like the following:

To Montreal:

Alex Auld + Fabian Brunnstrom

To Dallas:

Jaroslav Halak

_______________________________

To Montreal:

Cam Barker

To Chicago:

Jaroslav Halak + Sergei Kostitsyn

_______________________________

To Montreal:

Andrew Cogliano

To Edmonton:

Jaroslav Halak + Sergei Kostitsyn

_______________________________

To Montreal:

Scott Hartnell

To Philadelphia:

Jaroslav Halak + Matt D'Agostini + 4th round draft pick from Anaheim (Chipchura deal)

Not sure why Eklund has been legitimized as an official source by this website.

He's a millionaire now so he's legit. Give me a million bucks and a website that is rated #1 for hockey rumors on google and I can be official too.

I think there are deals going to be made shortly...I think BG will be dealing before the Olympics....Eklund is going to have a ball this year, because in effect there are almost two trade deadlines, one before the Olympics, and one right after.....right now, Carolina, TO, and Edmonton are all out of the playoff picture.....we can all be like Eklund and specualte....my guess is BG trades with Edmonton...

He takes advantage of people by lying and making up false rumors. Does that make him smarter?

I think that Dallas is the place where Halak will end up! This is because:

1) Turco is done and they are NOT bringing him back.
2) Dallas and Montreal have a close relationship and the GM's do too.
3) Dallas is looking for a young goalie because the likes of Richard Bachman, Tyler Beskorowany, Matt Climie and Pat McGann are not developed and no where close to the NHL.

And so is Bill Gates. And I wouldn't trust hockey rumors made up by Bill Gates.

True, could very well be....I think no matter what, BG trades in the Western Conf.

Not a fan of Brunnstrom so it's hard for me to comment on that, but isn't he a defensive reliability and soft and all that fun stuff. The ideal one for me would be for Scotty Hartnell, I think you nailed the value on the head with that deal, and everyone knows how I feel about Matt D'Agostini .. The Cogliano deal would be very bad for us, he's an average 2nd liner who's not even playing as such lately, I'd rather have SKost over him, nevermind Halak and SKost. Some Chicago fans seem to **** on Barker as badly as I do D'Agostini, so I don't know how much I want him, I hear that he "Wouldn't hurt a fly" is "Bad in his own end".. I'd sooner trade for a hearty, stay-at-home defenseman.

I'm quite happy it's coming from Eklund... it means, it's not about to happen.

...btw, if Gainey trades Halak, it will be the second time that he gets rid of the number 1 goalie to please Price... I sure hope the backup then won't be nhl caliber.
