I voted Yes. Unless the rangers go into another slump I see them making the playoffs. Plus, I see us getting better at the deadline but so will the other teams fighting for a spot.

Playoffs? Yes, most likely.

Go far? Doubtful.

We should have one of these after every game, because we'll get completely different results every time.

I said no... due to the fact that so many of the remaining games are against quality, intra-division (or at leats conference) opponents.

They CAN'T go on a losing streak without putting themselves severly out of position and I think we're seeing the onset of another slump.

I think your right that another losing streak and we can kiss the playoffs goodbye with so many teams fighting for the last 3-4 spots. I don't think we are on the start of another skid though

Yes

I believe there are eight teams in the Eastern Conference that are worse than the Rangers.

I say they will. But that is more a comment on the state of the East than it is the Rangers' play. A couple of deadline moves here by other teams could push the Rangers out.

No.
But keeping in mind the team will probably look a bit different after the Olympics, this is just hypothetical.

The schedule to end December/start Jan. was really fluky and they were able to pick up a lot of points there that shot them up into a playoff position.
January has been a mixed bag of success so far, but there are a bunch of tough opponents coming up before the Olympic break, and I expect to see them drop out of a playoff spot in that time.

After the Olympics I see a fatigued Lundqvist not able to perform at the level this team needs him to, and who knows what Gaborik (who's been starting to disappear as it is) will look like at that point.

Lundqvist can only play 7 games in the Olympics and thats if Sweden makes it to the Gold medal game. The only problem is most games are played after a full day of rest, which can be grueling.

7 Games is nothing compared to a 82 game schedule. He should be fine. If anything, Chad Johnson can start a few more games.

Yep. And take a look at the last 10 games on their schedule. Something like 7 out of 10 on the road.

They can probably sneak into the 7 or 8 spot. Given the current roster, I doubt they have the chemistry, toughness, leadership, etc. to go far. I'd also imagine the team as a whole (but especially Gaborik and Lundy) would be pretty gassed if they have to scratch and claw their way into one of the last spots post-Olympics, much more so than whatever team they would be squaring off against.

Rangers are better on the road than at home this year.

Anyway, I think they'll make it. As inconsistent as the Rangers are, every team below them is just as inconsistent. In fact, they even have a chance to finish in the 4th or 5th seed, that's how tight it is.

Knew somebody was gonna say that. Doesn't matter. You still would rather have it the other way around. Plus I think the Rangers will be better at home down the stretch. Away games down the stretch are going to be brutal.

Either way. Hope I'm wrong.

History will repeat itself once again. 7-8 seed, mid round DP, big off-season moves.

I'm sticking with my guns from the first poll and say no we will just miss. I have no confidence in this team winning a big game. You need more than just one big game player (Hank) to get to the post season dance. Games are going to start meaning so much more soon and there is when we will see the character of these guys and our coach.

Please enlighten me as to who our "big game players" were aside from Henrik last season?

And what is Gaborik?
