That's awesome! I'll have to go back and listen for that.

Aside from the beginning of the second (haven't watched the first yet), I thought the boys played well.

Carter is on fire, as is Carcillo (who'd have thought those two would be named in the same sentence!!) so teams are going to have a lot of trouble with all 4 lines.
Richards has been struggling ever since that slump though, before Gagne came back from injury. They're both playing below their abilities. Right now having our fourth line potting goals seemingly every game is helping our cause a lot. I just don't like the idea of having our fourth line being a pivotal part of our offense.

I just think a team need four legitimate lines to win a Cup and I think that if they don't, they need two really good scoring lines. Our current top line is anemic. I just don't see our chances being great with an anemic top line. Just worries me is all.

We played very good for about 35-40 minutes I would say.

Lappierre had a very wel timed fight which seemed to stop there momentum.

I heard a blurb on CSN about an injury. Was there an injury I missed?

Parent, perhaps. Out six weeks.

Legace was removed in the first due to pink eye.

I hope somebody didn't fart on his pillow. That will always be the worst possible way to get pinkeye in my mind.

It sucks Parent is out another 6 weeks. So that's until what, the 2nd week in March?

Post-Olympic break = March 2.

Seems like Legace had the ailment for a few days though maybe the severity worsened during the game.

What about a fart directly in your eye?

Oh god no. I think I had pink eye only when I was little, but then, the only person who would fart on my pillow was my sister. I severely hope she didn't though.

Bruins lost. Islanders lost. Rags got shutout (6-0) by Montreal. All of that means that 6th place still belongs to us right now. The Sens won today so they're going to be harder to catch, but other then that today has been an awesome day for the Flyers in the standings.

The good news is we have 3 games in hand on the Sens. It just feels sooo good to see us in the playoffs even though it's by millimetres!

I agree. It's refreshing. Tomorrow will be a real test though.

Also, fun fact, Pronger has as many points as Datsyuk and Zetterberg (they're all tied for 60th in scoring).

It looks like it. He flattened Huge Brian Boyle last game and has been dishing out lots of good hits.

With games in hand, and Ottawa's subpar road record (with less games played on the road), they're not too difficult to catch.

However, assuming you catch 'em...you're setting up for the Pens in the first round.

I think it's too early to worry about who we'd play in the 1st round, but please don't be Buffalo. I'm tired of playing Buffalo every year. Of the top 4, I think I'd rather have the Devils.

No, Carcillo deked him out of his jockstrap and he was suffering shame and embarrassment.

I think the top 4 are safe from the rest. The top 3 are basically 10+ points clear, so unless they have a hiccup they shouldn't drop out of that range. The Caps have the SE to pound on the rest of the way, so the no. 1 should be easily theirs. Devs/Buffalo is a coin flip. And Pittsburgh has been in a lull, but I would expect them to turn it on at some point here...unless the Olympics hurt them.

With our traditional record against them, that sounds like a goal we should shoot for.

Out of the top four I'd want to face the Devils most. Buffalo right behind them. They're both teams I could see us beating in a series. Pittsburgh and Washington I would be much less confident about.

Neither do our opponents. However, I agree that Gagne and Richards need to step it up. They aren't creating opportunities for each other, even with Giroux on the same line they couldn't cash in. I feel like Gagne still has a lot of juice left and he's going to break out of this slump soon and start contributing, because I can't really put my finger on some specific problem. It's almost like players have been improving one by one, maybe Lavi is getting to Gagne now.
