Bold = NEW

We feel that we have turned this team around and now we have a young contender. Our D is much younger and mobile with the acquisitions of defenceman Brent Burns, Dan Hamhuis and Brent Sopel. Our Forwards are pretty much the same but a little younger with Oscar Moller and Jack Skille and we feel we have a pretty dynamic group that will put the puck in the back of the net. We were sad to see Gigeure go but it was what was best for the team and we feel very confident that Hiller will get the job done. we are pretty much done for the offseason but I will listen to offers and we are waiting on a couple players to respond.

Calgary Flames

The Flames are set for the 2010-11 season and will ice what many believe is among the best top-6 in the NHL.

In are center Brad Richards, Jason Pominville, and Maxim Afinogenov who will skate with holdovers Jarome Iginla, Olli Jokinen and Rene Bourque. Jussi Jokinen also joins the talented forward group and will compete for top-six minutes.

The 2009-10 season was a disappointing one for the Flames, as the offense failed miserably to put up points.

If the puck dropped today our lineup would be:

FORWARDS:
Jason Pominville Brad Richards Jarome Iginla
Maxim Afinogenov Olli Jokkinen Rene Bourque
Jussi Jokinen Jason Jaffray David Moss
Curtis Glencross Vern Fiddler Brandon Prust
SCRATCHES: Jamie Lundmark

DEFENSEMEN
Jay Bouwmeester Mark Giorodano
Kurtis Foster Corey Sarich
Adam Pardy Keith Seabrook
SCRATCHES: Staffan Kronwall

GOALIES
Mikka Kiprusoff
Curtis McIlhenney

OVERALL SUMMARY
2010 SALARY CAP$58,000,000
Payroll$57,891,166
Cap Space$108,834

Dallas has a top 6 with size and speed and can rival any team in the NHL. The bottom 6 has the right amount of veteran presence, skill and grit. Thornton fills the role of enforcer that can play a regular shift on the 4th line and contribute a little bit offensively.

Dallas' defence is by far improved. The top pairing of Phaneuf and Greene can dent the boards with the opposition and Dion can definately rack up the points. The 2nd pairing is a great shut down pair and should produce well angainst the secondary lines. The 3rd pairing will flourish against 2nd-3rd lines of the west. Both Daley and Carle make a good 1st pass and can handle physical play. And Woywitka provides an inexpensive 7th dman with experience.

Dallas' goaltending has improved as well. Turco will return for 2 more seasons to play 45-50 games a year (a lighter workload can only help him regain his old form) and to tutor the next franchise goaltender, Bernier. Bernier will be ready for 30-35 games his 1st season and should be fighting for the no.1 position right out of the gates.

Most of the team is signed to long term contracts and most are under the age of 26. So this team should be together for many more years.

The Lankow buyout handcuffs us somewhat but that was the price to pay for Phaneuf and Backlund.
