absolutely, but you might as well try. Maybe we could get him for some prospects or lesser playres or something of that sort..

Any chance Jason Smith comes out of retirement or where ever the hell he is to sign for the league minimum?

Do not exactly want him. Was a warrior while he was here, but he really slowed down due to injuries, and will most likely not come back

Who said they had to carry 8 defensemen on the NHL roster?
I don't recall Detroit doing this at all unless you are counting Chelios, I don't follow the Pens 4-6 d-men close enough to remember.

And I mean, are you going to find NHLers and then stash them in the AHL? Even Bartulis, who people seem to like, is a -13, significantly worse than any d-man on our roster not named Coburn.

Best bet is to sacrifice goats so that Parent is healthy for the playoffs and work those 5 pretty hard with one of Syvret/Bartulis as a depth guy who plays 12ish minutes per game.

Coburn has been much better in the last week and half or so. That makes the D picture look a whole lot better. But we still need something more solid on the 3rd pair.

Parent was terrible even before the surgery. OKT can't be relied on to stay healthy and he's shaky at times. Syvret has also been injured and is shaky. Bartulis has been very good at time and bad at times.

We could REALLY use one solid vet back there.

Gleason is going nowhere. He's one of the few bright spots on the Hurricanes.

Someone needs to give Kyle Wellwood's knees to either Jason Smith or Hatch. Or maybe they each get one... they are both used to playing with just the one. And we all know that those knees can support a substantial amount of weight.

I would rather have a veteran for the 5/6 pairing. I would be concerned going with a combo of Syvret,Bartulis and also Parent.
Put a vet with any of those guys and I would be ok with it.

I'd love to see them add a veteran for the third pair. I'm not comfortable with any two out of Bartulis, Syvret or OKT making up a pair. They can't really count on Parent, with his injuries and there's no way to save that anyone on the Phantoms can step right in.

I'd like to see them go after a guy like Nic Wallin. He's got some nasty to his game and he's also a decent all around defenseman. The issue with him is cost and that he has a NTC.

What about Staios? Not sure what he makes but he would help. Barrett Jackman in St. Louis?

Chelios. He's like +24 or something in the AHL.

Wallin's name has popped up in rumors surrounding the Hurricanes.

I'd take Jackman but he makes too much. We'd have to clear about 2.5 to fit him.

With Parent and Syvret on LTIR, they actually are close. Send them both to the AHL, along with Bartulis and cut ties with Boucher and you have the room.

thought that to myself last night as well. 15 minutes a night i thionk he would do ok. Who knows what shape he is in though. Chelios? What about gauthier? Has he even been playing at all? These guys are not saviors by any means just an upgrade on the 3rd pair and dotn cost anything. The flyers dotn really have assets to waste right now to acquire anyone unless they trade away prospects or a roster player for a legti top 4 type guy. Try to sign someone who is till a free agent and work them back into shape.

OKT is an NHL veteran starting on his 6th year without seeing time in the minors, if he's as bad as you guys think he should've been in the AHL a long time ago.

But he's rusty, playing with equipment to support his knee which is only 80% improving slowly. You guys obviously don't think any further than your own nose.

I wouldn't mind one more veteran though.

As I said before, I feel bad for Tollefsen dealing with all of those injuries, but the last couple of games in particular were brutal. His outlet passing was really terrible.

Wallin would be a very solid addition, I think.

By the number of games he has played, I wouldnt really consider him a vet.

You are the only one here who thinks OKT is a solid defenseman.

He's a solid AHL defenseman...maybe a really good AHL defenseman.
