Flyers sign Denis Bodrov

Finally!
Details: http://www.russianhockeyfans.com/nhl...odrov-119.html

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/...th_Flyers.html

Quote:
The Flyers signed Bodrov - who cut ties with the Russian Kontinental League's Mytishchi Atlant on Nov. 30 - to an AHL deal over the weekend, general manager Paul Holmgren confirmed.

Bodrov, 23, was picked at No. 55 overall in 2006 but has yet to play in North America. In fact, he hasn't played at all recently. Russian newspapers reported in November that Bodrov was released from his contract due to "bad performances."

"He hasn't played in about a month," Holmgren said. "I don't really know the process over there in Russia, but it worked out where he was free to do what he wanted. He's been here the last few days."

He was good but then became his own worst enemy in the biggest way possible. He's getting a second chance in the United States since he messed things up so terribly in Russia. Holmgren likes his reclamation projects, and Bodrov certainly has NHL talent.

He better not need to be kicked off of his third team

This is his last chance.

Used to be a very good prospect. imo

Coould become our best AHL d-men or could become a bust at this point.

Sounds like he needs to attend a couple of Lavy's suicide practices. Hopefully he turns things around with the Phantoms and becomes someone useful in the organization.

I'll reserve judgement on Bodrov until I see what he does here in North America. I take any information from the KHL with a grain of salt because there are some teams that have defaulted on paying players and if I were said player, I'd be disgruntled as well. On top of it, we only hear speculation as to why Bodrov was bounced. He was a bad influence on the younger players of the team? That could mean anything. Like I said, there are some people who speak out against crap. Maybe this was the case where he saw something that he didn't like and he spoke out against it.

Honestly, after all the stuff from Russia that was reported, the simple fact that he's signed is more than I ever expected.

He either had a really bad attitude, sucks at hockey or was out drinking with John Grahame

Can't believe it? He's been sitting home drinking vodka and watching the soaps for a month.

Until he lost his mind he was projected to be a good #4 one day. Hopefully he can get his act together. He has to know that this is his last, best chance.

works for me . . . cannot be a bad idea to add another D-man. If he ends up being as good as we all hoped than you can look to trade OKT, Syvret, Bart or even Parent.
