Positions 5 to 13 in the Eastern Conference are separated by a scant 9 points. Makes for some mighty exciting scoreboard watching. Last night really went in our favor with two regulation verdicts (no three pointers). Washington taking out Philly and the Rangers punking the Habs.
The Caps kept the Flyers level with us in points and games and the Rangers really made the Canadiens sitting ducks ahead of us on the table as we only trail them by a single point with 3 games in hand.
We're seeing a healthy holiday slate tonight with 4 games of impact including ourselves....
Ottawa@Boston: I think I'm leaning Bruins here. Even though they're at the top of this standings mess at #5 in the conference I'm willing to give them a pass to step away from the pack to keep Ottawa in striking distance. We only trail the Sens by 3 points coming into today with 2 games in hand. A loss to the Bruins and our beating the Panturds casts a huge blue shadow over that lot.
New Jersey@NYIslanders: Islanders currently hold the final playoff slot in the east. We trail them by a point and have a game in hand. Let's Go Devils! They fall in regulation and we prevail this evening? We put them in our rear view mirror.
TampaBay@Carolina: The Lightning are sitting in spot #13 in the conference and I'd like nothing better than to see them carry some bad luck into Raleigh. They trail us by 3 points and I'd love to see the Hurricanes add a little breathing room to our cause.
Atlanta@Florida: A no brainer must win. Playing a team below us in the standings. We must come out with purpose and take advantage. Cannot play down to the opposition when 2 points are so vital. lets win and force the issue in conference!
Well the Habs are going to get at least one point thanks to some truly awful officiating in their favor at the end of the game.
Well we still have 2 games on hand on them, not to mention that we also have the tie-breaking. As long as we take care of our business, Montreal will have hard time catching up to us.
