Dunno, just a thought.
I would also like to see us acquire him, but the Hawks might want too much in order to let him go.

Maybe go after Versteeg if the Hawks want too much for Sharp?

I hear ya. It'll be cool to se what DB does when Booth comes back. I think its specially interesting when the Kats are down on the scoreboard and Coach starts getting creative with his line combos. Mixing them up to see what sparks ya can make.

That's a good point! Someone's leaving. Sharp would be a great offensive burst and if we can make the right deal, it could be reality.

Let us sacrifice an offering to the hockey gods and make this happen.

Just thinking out loud here...I wonder what it would take to acquire Kovalchuk at the deadline.

I don't care if Kovalchuk is signed or not, there's no way whatsoever I would want Sexton to trade Booth, Ellerby, Dadonov, and a 1st.

Horrible trade for us value wise, not to mention what it does to our payroll tying up that sum of money in one player.

He could be back before the break, or so that is what was mentioned during the Habs game. I expect him to be back after the break, with Horton a week or so afterward.

I just hope he's the same David Booth when he comes back. If we don't make an impact move, which I highly doubt we will, we really need Boother to spark this team's anemic scoring down the stretch. Oh please hockey gods, give me a fired up ready-to-score Booooooooth!!!

You people are nuts. I would cry if we gave that up for Kovy, even though that's what it would cost. We're not in a position to be making a trade like that. We won't win the Cup and he'll be gone in the summer, then what?

Freaking Sykora is available, REALLY hope we're not going to try and go after his sorry ass. I can see Sexton already on the phone with his agent, though.

Sykora is not what we need. We don't really need anything. Just need to play as a team consistently.

Yeah, Kovy is not coming in signed. Waddell already said as much. He'll be a rental. If he was signed, it would take much more than that.

Would you trade Markström?

Vokoun is playing lights out this year. Vokoun is not exactly young but is obviously doing very well. Would you consider trading Markström if the right offer came along? And what would it take for you to consider trading him?

Personally, as a (somewhat) neutral Swedish homer I would like to see him succeed with a team like the Panthers, since there wouldn't be too much pressure, but that might be hard for JM with a top 5 goalie in front of him.

This has recently been discussed:

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=728868

To summarize for you, some want him traded for a bunch of good young players and keep going with Vokoun, the majority (which I agree with) want to keep Markstrom as our goalie of the future.

No. It seems right now that Markstrom's the kind of guy that you want to spend the next decade with your team. Vokoun's contract runs out after next season, so regardless of how lights out he's playing, his time with the Panther's is limited. I'm not against resigning him next summer for a few more years, but he's just the goalie of right now. Markstrom's the goalie of the future.

Considering the age difference, i think your answers are very reasonable. If Vokoun was 24 instead of 34 (this year), it would be a very different scenario.

I would be very surprised if Markström didn't turn out to be a very special goalie in the NHL. He's simply amazing.

I'd like him to succeed for the Panthers actually. And thinking about it, it wouldn't make any sense for the Panthers trading him anyhow since young, unproven goalies often don't get a great return.

It depends on whether or not we're getting overwhelming offers.
