I don't get the logic in these types of threads. From the owners perspective, regardless of how tight your finances are, if you're going to own an NHL team then you're going to have to pony up at least $40 million in player salaries for every year you own the team. So what's it matter if one guy is taking up a fifth of that for the next 10 years? As long as the GM can ice a team under the owner or NHL imposed cap, then what any one player makes and for how long shouldn't matter.
Vinny's status is purely speculation by THN at this stage. As such, I'm closing the thread so it doesn't appear like TSN is saying this is the plan. It's very clear in the article that they attribute the speculation to a report on THN.
