trading halak wouldn't be a smart move before the olympics...
his stock could rise big time if he stands on his head and puts out performances like the San Jose game last year were he put up 50 saves or so...
Like i said in an earlier thread. Halak value will sky rocket at the Olympics and Price will be traded at the draft.
Ummmm, yes they can clear him. If he plays for another team, like in Sweden. He is OFF the Habs books.
Rejaune doesn't start rumors. He is the dumbest separitiste i know, but he doesn't start rumors.
Of course, to be precise, in order to Laraque to play in Sweden (without being in violation of his contract), he would need to agree to be waived by Habs first.
Naturally, with one-way contract Laraque would receive his current salary (from Habs) even if he would play in Sweden. Theoretically some team could also decide to claim him, but in any case he would be off the Montreal's cap.
yawn, another day another bs rumor.. stop talking about it and they'll go away. this board is really going into the unbearable territory. it's not even about the team anymore it's just about bogus rumors, whining and drama.
I hate Rejean intensely. I hate his smugness and arrogance, his not-so-hidden political and anti Habs agenda, what he represents as a whole.
However, he never comes out with unverified info and he has good contacts in the business world. It is most likely that the facts described (Boivin saying what he said in a closed-doors high level party) is true. The way to interpret it though... Nothing says that Halak will actually be traded or not, before or after the olympics.
Also, Rejean was a good friend of BGL and always supported him.
You're setting yourself up for a disappointment if you think Neal and Benn would be in any discussion involving just Halak.
Maybe Halak and D'ago for benn + pick or no pick? Maybe they would take a chance since ribeiro is working out alright and they already have a ton of size. Although D'agostini would probably get killed by someone playing in the west.
-The LA Kings will attemp a run in the Kovalchuk derby. They will send Ryan Smyth to Montreal for Jaroslav Halak and a 2nd rounder. The Kings after will try to involve a trade with their 2 1rst rounder and names like Frolov and maybe even Dustin Brown are in the talks to get Kovalchuk. Rumor said that they are willing to let go a 9 years / 88 millions deal.
Well for those of you that did not watch l'attaque a 5 yesterday, Tony Marinaro said that he can confirm for a fact 110% true, that Halak has officially asked to be traded this week and that he will be moved before the trade deadline.
The video is not up on their site yet.
IMO This can very well be true because Tony was the only one who had the Latendresse scoop before anyone else. Somoene involved in a GM position is giving him this info. Or somoene who knows a few GM's very well, cough Pierre McGuire.
It's too obvious!
This could be good. People are saying that we should be sellers this season, and I agree we should. Halak is probably our best asset right now other than Carey Price or PK Subban. The return for him could very well be good.
We do not have a need to trade him. He will be an RFA and we can resign him without question next season because he is not going to the KHL. If Bob does trade him, he will only do it for a good return and I hope to god not a rental player.
Halak has been playing a lot. Don't know why he's been crying to be traded.
It doesn't even matter if he wants to be traded. Tell him to go **** himself. He's still a RFA at the end of this contract. He signs an offer sheet, we match it. He goes to Russia....it's better than having him get traded under less than ideal circumstances and then dominating the Habs whenever we play against him. I'd rather burn the asset than have it come to bite the Habs in the ass.
But, having said this, I'm sure Halak understands that it will take the Habs some time to sort out the goalie situation. Marinaro being right once doesn't excuse him for mostly being full of ****.
