Pyorala assigned to the Phantoms
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/f..._Phantoms.html
Quote:
Pyorala’s last game was Jan. 14 in Toronto, when he filled in for late scratch Scott Hartnell just prior to warmups. The Oulu, Finland, native played 36 consecutive games to start the season before his first scratch on Dec. 21. The defensively responsible, third line forward has two goals and two assists for four points.
Barring an injury to one of the Flyers’ other forwards, Pyorala will likely remain on the Phantoms for the duration of the Olympic break when rosters are frozen (Feb. 15 to 23).
Pyorala, 28, is in his 9th professional season but his first in North America. His $500,000 salary will come off the Flyers’ cap hit. His AHL salary is $105,000.

Cote is the spare forward for the road trip. It's probably a move to keep Pyorala in game shape.

Probably for the better. He was really not performing the was we all hoped for after the preseason. He's probably going back to Sweden after this season and this way at least he sees some ice until then. Maybe he'll do better in the AHL, which is closer to the swedish level or the preseason level where he impressed.
Is he going to be in tonights game or will he be in tomorrow?

Maybe it will help him realize how much more fun it is to play with the Flyers.

No, but who knows what kind of mindset he could take.

Good move. Gives Pyro some ice time and there's Cote to throw in to play 2-5mins if someone's gotta sit out for a game due to minor injury or such.

If he gets hurt I would assume Pyorala is the guy recalled and inserted

He had a good preseason, that was it. We have too many people fill his void that on pk and playing d.

But the Phantoms aren't across the street anymore, unfortunately. So, if an injury happens close to a game it's Cote that will get the nod. And do nothing for 5 minutes.

Close to a game yes, that's the only reason Cote is even still getting a paycheck. If he's not claimed off waivers or sent to the minors after this season, he'll be bought out.

The only reason Cote's still on this team is the charity work of him and his wive.

The best part is Cote hasn't been to bad in his bouts this year. I wish someone would need a enforcer maybe throw him in a deal with Carolina and Coburn for Gleason. I love Gleason.

Pyörälä heading to Europe, Frölunda HC to be more precise. Can anyone confirm? Transfer deadline for the SEL closes in 40 minutes.
