Here are some suggestions for the many "Chicken Littles" out there:
1. Take a deep breath
2. Take something to calm yourself down.
3. Look at the calendar and reminder yourself it is still JANUARY
4. Wait and see what the severity of Cammalleri's injury is
5. Note the logjam of playoff bubble teams and realize that any of 5-6 teams could be in 6th place one day and 12th two days later.
6. Expect that it will remain very tight in the standings from here until the end of the year.
7. Understand that the coach and GM will continue to put the best lineup they can together, with no intention of losing games...i know I know it is pretty shocking
8. Remind yourself that this is the Montreal Canadiens, winners of 24 Stanley Cups and the team with the richest tradition in all of hockey. It is also not the situation in Haiti or Afghanistan. Its hockey, pure and simple.

I hope you can all find a way to enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Cheers.
This is the exact kind of garbage that bothers me. Everytime someone looks at this team and the below pathetic excuse for effort that is shown day in and out they are assialed by these jabbering clowns. Wait, just keep waiting, give it a month or a year or 5 years blah blah blah.

I have watched this team crumble for well over 5 years. Gainey has done nothing but change the names on the jersies. The piss poor team we had before Gainey played the same games and got the same results. Either they barely made the playoffs and got booted early or they JUST missed them ensuring we get a mid teens pick. Terrible outcomes everytime setting the team up for another year of mediocre play and the same jabbering mouths saying "one more year, 2 more years."

All Gainey has built is a team that will time and again fail, He NEVER address size, grit or the #1 centre that everyone with two brain cells to rub together has known we needed for what 10 years now? Instead of Koivu/Pleks we got Pleks/Gomez, WOW Koivu was an excellent #2 centre so to replace him we got a poor #2 centre.

So yeah, time for a freaking change, the emperor has no clothes.

Yeah, but we won't take a chance and draft the BPA, instead we'll draft to the fan's pleasing.

Louis Leblanc. LOL At least I'm bashing this pick now, unlike many of the fans here, who will wait 5 years and then say they really want someone else who no one thought would be as good as they really are.

BTW Leblanc is absolutely on fire as of late (like 6 goals in the last 5 games, quite good in the NCAA). Not a bad pick.

You really need this explained to you?

Markov touched the puck right before, and Cammalleri was chasing on a dump-in...Volchenkov "owns the ice" so to speak, and the hit was actually more of a collision if you watch. Sure, Vol lowered the shoulder, but it was more to poke the puck away from Cam.

Tank Nation is too Leafish

What about Tankadiens?

Tankwagon?

The smurf tank?

I say we call whatever line Bergeron plays on the "tank line"

Bergeron is playing at or above what is expected of him. It is a shame the same cannot be said about many of our players. Bergerons shortcomings were well known well before he was brought on, if he is being improperly used it is the coaches fault, not Bergeron. He is what he is and that is why he makes 750K. If you want to drop blame why don't you aim at the heavy hitters who are not pulling their weight, Hamrlik, Gill, Spacek and Gomez. Paid generously and underperforming.

Exactly. If major shake ups are needed, swap up any of the other d-men, but leave Markov there so at least every guy the Habs bring through the system for years to come have this guy to watch and learn from. I expect Montreal will get much more than just that by keeping him though (i.e. he'll probably still be the best d-man on the team by far for a few years at least).

If contract/salary demands in the future get too crazy though, THEN we can talk about the possibilities/merits of trading Markov.

So true. I like this team's intentions and they do give an effort every game for the most part, but it's pretty obvious there's a major lack of skill on that team which is sad because they seem like a good bunch of guys unlike the old crew.

This team has a lot of good players and skills.

We should wait.
This is probably the worst time in the season.
So we will see how this team can react.

Adversity has two impacts on a team: fight better or collapse.
Now we will see the character of Gainey's team.
This is the time for them to mesh together and get to the next level.

I still stand behind my claim: they need 12 points in 8 games to get there.
For now they got 1 point.
So we need 11 points in 7 games:Van, BosX2, PhiX2, Pit, Wsh.

Anything below 9 more points is pointless.

We will know a lot more after the next four games: Van, Bos, Pit, Bos.

But I expect the real conclusion to be after our double hitter with PHI.

A lot of you guys are trying to present appoach where you take control of the situation.
Nothing is in our hands but everything will be revealed in two weeks.

Patience my friends, Patience.

In two weeks we are either in PO and buyers or out of the PO and sellers.
Sellers means top-10 or better.

Buyers means we are in PO and many players will be available:
A few UFAs that could be available:
Kovalchuk, Kubina, Kozlov, Whitney, Stempniak, Tanguay, Seiderberg, Weight, Tkachuk, Ponikarovsky, Stajan, Krajicek.
I hope Gainey will not go for Kovy as his value will be inflated beyond reason.
Would you give Subban, Leblanc, Kristo and a first round for Kovy?

Just look at what was given for Hossa and double it for Kovy:
Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito and Daulton Leveille.
I would n ot even give 1 player for Kovy ..... our powerplay is still 1st in the league without him ...

trade ; price/halak/markov I dont give a damn ... get us eberle, toews, carter ...

you win the cup when J.staal/john madden/R.brindamour/langenbruner/franzen/cleary/kesler play in your bottom 6 ...

dagostini/pacioretty/maxwell ect... are NOT helping the team in ANY way. Playing MAB for the whole OT is something a dilusional volleyball coach wouldnt dare to do ...

jacques martin is good with young players ... can't he be assistant ? hamilton ? but head coach ? he did have some pretty laughable brainfarts today... I love how we possessed the puck ... slowly dump and chase throwing our timbits in the corners hoping they are gonna ''win their battles '' ... good luck and have fun.

A coach that has a ''winning system'' and tries to make everybody fit the system regardless of their skill set, or a coach who actually takes time to understand his team and how unique everyone is and how we could design a system suited for us ...? when ryan white consistantly looks like mario lemieux next to scott gomez, there is a bigger problem than the performance itself imo,...

disagree. a couple of little tweaks and I think we could have had a turnaround. Obviously can't test that theory now. So depressed. Probably not as much as people who didn't give us a chance since they already wrote the team off (understandably, it's not cut and dry). Cammalleri was scoring big goals and we really needed that going down the stretch. Now, I'm finally on the tankwagon. This is so horrible. Just like last year, our chances of becoming a good team late in the season blown apart by a devastating injury. At least now I have a huge reason to cheer against Ottawa and to hope Volchenkov gets whats coming to him (call it clean all you want, he laid into a tiny guy, oh and our star player btw...not acceptable).

I don't see anyone picked up after Leblanc in NHL.
Going deeper in analyzing, I don't see anyone from 5th till 17th (all ahead of Leblanc) in NHL, just top-4: Tavares, Hedman, Duchesne and Kane.
About Kristo, I see nobody between 29th and 56th (Kristo's pick) in NHL.

BTW, you are "Analyzer"?
So please provide us with a deeper "Analyze".
I need to understand your point. You may be right but I totally fail to see it.
Well, I have to correct you on that point.

Ryan O'Reilly, drafted #33 overall, is enjoying a pretty decent rookie season with the Avalanche. Even though he's slowed down offensively (just 3 points in his last 30 games), he's still getting major minutes every night and to this point, has posted a +5, which puts him 10th on the team in that category. He averages over 16 minutes a night and has shared time in every situation.
