Last night he claimed that they had a deal in place for today, with Anaheim and a second one in place "likely with Los Angeles."

So no, not at all.

That said, Habs Inside/Out is also reporting Giguere to the Leafs in a separate deal, so if that's the case, he may have gotten the fact that there would be two trades and who one of them was right.

The Phaneuf deal, all his tweets are just reposts of Dreger without attribution.

That said, my opinion of Ek is that he started as a bit of a fraud, but has become so trafficked that he actually has real sources now

Interesting, I wonder how he manages to save face with his poor results. Also, his business model makes no sense with the speed and resources of Twitter.

He gets great traffic for a hockey site. Enough to make a comfortable living for himself off of if he monetizes the advertising halfway intelligently. That said, I don't think he does from the look of the ads running there. So his business model is fine, although poorly leveraged by him. Twitter's an excellent gateway drug. He posts there, which is an instant conduit to 100s of thousands of people who click through to his site to read more.

His argument has always been if a real source tells him, he posts. Honestly, it's plausible. I wouldn't doubt that 95% of trades batted around never happen. It's inevitable that he makes lots of wrong calls. The real test is when there is a situation like this. He knew enough to know something was coming today. He called that. But he didn't have the sources to nail down who in Calgary. He did have the sources to get the who in Anaheim though.

By the way, I always spell it " Eukland ". Don't ask why.

Well I guess we can at least try to have some fun with this considering what just happened in Toronto.

Let's assume that Tampa wants to cut some salary for the new owner and that Toronto is the 3rd team here looking to add a C to play with Kessel since they are now really weak at that position. Also, lets assume Gainey wants to bring in Lecavalier to make everyone in Montreal happy.

Can a trade based around the following work? Keep in mind this is not a proposal, just a framework for a potential trade.

To Toronto: Gomez

To Montreal: Lecavalier

To Tampa: Halak

If any of my sources know about this and will go "on the record" call me."

He says it himself. He's in the process of inventing a "biggie".

Did you even read my post or did you just skip right to the proposal part and click quick reply as fast as you could?

I CLEARY wrote that it was NOT a PROPOSAL but a FRAMEWORK for a potential trade.

The point was to see if any of you could ADD anything to it in order to make it into a proposal.

I actually like reading Eklund's drama on this board. It essentially means I don't have to go to his website to read his crap. Meaning not hits for him

To Tampa: Halak
To Toronto: Gomez, Montreal 1st, D'Agostini

To Montreal: Lecavalier, Hedman

To Tampa: Price, Kaberle, Exelby

Gomez is traded to make space for Lecav. Montreal uses first pick and Dago to get Toronto to trade Kaberle to Tampa for Hedman.

Montreal trades Spacek for Artyuhkin, Ana 3rd rounder.

I think it is quite clear a trade is looming, it may be on a grand scale or it may be a tweak. Personally I'd like to see Halak + Prospect + D for Top 6 + D to solidify this team, a strong physical defenseman and a physical top 6. With cammy out we don't know how long but based on the severity of that twist you kind of assume he won't be back before the olympics I think we'll make a trade seeing as two of our top 6 are gone and calling up patches after sending him down but a week ago I do not think would be benificial.

Tampa won't trade Hedman. He's a young defense man that costs nothing with a bright future in front of hiim.
