He had a 99 potential in NHL '05 for Gamecube. By the 2010 season in that game he and Rotislav Klesla were the 2 best defenders in the world

So... yeah.... according to that we just made an awesome pickup

If I count correctly there is no need to waive or trade somebody on defense ... Its Pronger, Timonen, Carle, Coburn, Kraijcek and Parent playing, with Syvret and Tollefsen in the press box, Bartulis goes back to the Phantoms. Cote is the only extra forward and one of the backups will be moved, like Holmgren said.

I'd rather Bartulis be sent to the minors and OKT be available, than OKT be lost and not have an emergency defenseman. This signing was made because they didn't have enough depth.

With Patrick Thoresen in the lineup? Canada and USA better watch him carefully

He's a big star in Russia now, a scoring machine. But he says he wants to return to the NHL, because of his family and language problems and so on. Rumors say he's been on the phone with Homer, maybe he's coming back here

I love Thor. He's one of the guys I will always have a soft spot for even though he didn't find success with us.

Even so...he's not going to make Norway a contender.

And PLEASE let him come back. I would be thrilled. Get on it Holmgren.

Thor was the man.

I'd love to see him back with us. I'm not sure, what your comments were trying to get at. But I don't speak alone with having him back.

I would love to see that guy back in Philly. Provided of course he only plays if Lappy or Carcillo gets hurt. With the forwards as healthy as they are right now he shouldn't crack the lineup.

I would like to see:

Pronger/Carle
Timmonen/Coburn
Bartulis/Krajicek

with Parent and Tollefsen ready and Syvret on the Phantoms.

Thor won't and can't be back this season. He'd make a great third line winger for JVR and Giroux next season though.

As much as I like Asham Thor's style of play would fit in with Lavi's style of play better.

id really hope for 10-12, but realistically, i think we're going to have to settle for 7, and perhaps the old gum stuck to the bottom of the bag.

You mean for 5 games and then he gets hurt again? Until Parent shows he can stay healthy, we cant trust him too much

It might be the only reason he has a contract. He's a depth guy, who isn't a rookie.

He's also averaging over 17 minutes this season in the NHL, which is more Bartulis, OKT, Syvret and Parent. He only needs to play 12-13 to take the difference off of how little OKT gets.

Based on what, his complete inability to pot goals at the NHL level? I'm glad he's having success in Europe, but we are pretty set on bottom 6 wingers at the moment.

Powe, Carcillo, Asham, and Laperrierre are all better players than Thoresen for our needs.

Im going to have to agree with this. People forget that he played next to Richards during his breakout year and still couldnt put goals in the net. I know he is a heart and sole player, but he doesnt really serve any of the needs that we dont have.

I liked Thor, but they guy couldn't produce points in the NHL, kind of points how weak the KHL is if he's an allstar

Yeah, I mean I respected Thor's playing style...but cem on...he wasn't that good, which is why he's in the KHL. Powe is basically a more physical version of Thor. I'm sure he'd score some in the NHL (there was a lot of rotten luck going on there), but he's a depth/role player, not someone you're signing to be on a pseudo scoring line (which, btw, we need to get away from...at some point we need to turn our third line into a third line).

Laviolette talks about Krajicek, nothing earth-shattering though

Lavi seems happy about his skating ability and teh depth he brings. Mentions he wants to get him in some games soon.

Jester, what do you figure the third line should be? the 4th line is the equivalent to the standard nhl checking line (which doesnt really exist anymore. for the most part, top lines match top lines) and they have two guys on that line that will drop their gloves with anyone. its like 2 lines in one. are you saying the flyers shouldnt have three scoring lines?

Krajicek is a sixth/seventh defenseman, with a bit of puck moving ability. Guess it's good they didn't have to trade a pick to get another third pair type

Really, I'd hope they could do better then trying to bring back Thor.
