Remember the Kotalik vs Zherdev poll? HAHAHAHA, yeah, Kotalik was sooo much better than that guy.

Kotalik for Exelby makes a lot of sense to me. He'll serve as a stopgap for the rest of the year after Torts murders Redden with a water bottle.

Toronto doesnt make sense, they just traded for Phaneuf who brings the shot from the point on the PP. Kotalik's main asset is his shot from the point on the PP. Ottawa maybe.

So you're saying Kotalik for Ovechkin?

I like the way you think.

Kotalik for Kovalchuk, I think it's a great trade becuase they have something great in come-- not only will they magically help both teams but they also have last names that start with a K, that's huge!!

I vaguely remember it, but I'm pretty sure you got it. Props to you. You called it as it is: Torts and Kot didn't get along and Kot had to be sent away. Hope it's something good coming back.

Exactly, and this is the 3rd time in less than 2 seasons that this has occurred: Rissmiller, Gomez, and now Kotalik.

This all could have been avoided in the first place if he wasn't so bad at signing free agents.

If Kotalik is the only one being asked to leave, it means he is the only roster player being included in a potential deal.

Very true. But we all know it's water under the bridge at this point. Where are where we currently stand and at least, it appears, Sather is trying to do something about it.

Rangers are now saying the tentative deal has fallen through, and Kotalik has been sent back to NY.

That's from Brooks, Zip, and Gross on Twitter.

Dammit...What happened?! Did the other team realize who exactly they were getting or did they look at his contract for the first time?

Brooks has updated the story via Twitter stating that "Rangers tentaive deal to move Kotalik fell through due to complications". We'll just have to wait and see what happens now.

Not necessarily true. In a cap world salaries still have to negate each other in most cases. Often leading to more players being involved.

On top of that, under the same regime, Brian Leetch wasn't given this much notice so who on this team deserves more notice than him?

According to Zipay's twitter:

Complications with Kotalik trade, Rangers say. He is back in New York
Wonder if it has anything to do with his NTC... they can't just ship him out anywhere....

We need to get rid of veteran defensemen, not acquire them. I see no reason to send Gilroy down, nor to shift Sangs to the second pairing, nor to make Nigel Williams to #6 D spot and off the PP completely.

None of that would be good for the Rangers long term.

Kot for a third round pick would be perfect. Kot for a 7th would still be acceptable.

Are Sam and Joe going to talk about this or are they just going to pretend like nothing is going on?
