Let's face it, Gainey totally handcuffed himself by acquiring (through FA and Trade) Gomez and Spacek and their terrible contracts. Add Hamrlik to that and this team can't do anything.

Mismanagement all around and the results prove it.

What makes you so sure that other teams can't beat that offer?
I've read so many ridiculous posts from you, I don't think most these offers will work even in video games.

Let's just hope that they improved enough to go ahead of the Habs... riding the momentum of the trade waves.

Terrible trade, Montreal says no!

Very Burke-ish move. We won't even make the playoffs... Why trade our future for an aging big name player with a massive contract? Our 1st rounder is assuredly top10, probably top8 and maybe top5 this year.

How is Spacek a terrible contract? Spacek and Hamrlik have been towers of strength for us when half our team was out and everybody wants to just get rid of them.

Damn...I guess Sutter wasn't happy with his team...

I remember a couple of years ago when Higgins was "good" there were some lively discussions between Habs and Leafs fans on who was better between Higgins and Stajan...I just find it ironic that today both were traded to the same team...

Doesn't really add anything to this thread but something I just remembered when I saw Higgins was dealt to Calgary today too...

Imho this trade + the TO trade makes the Flames and Rangers better teams on the short term. This is good for our tanking efforts! TO assuredly finishing last not so much good for our future however

Thanks for handing out Taylor Hall to Boston Burke you *****

This is true. At least, Phaneuf and Aulie for Hagman, Stajan, and White gets rejected. This one might work, Higgins got value in nhl10.

I have a very good feeling that Higgins will fit in well with Calgary...

I'm willing to make a friendly bet that he'll end the season scoring more goals on the flames than he did on the rangers (6).

I think so... might be Kovalchuk, but I got more doubts...
What's Calgary gonna trade ?

I have a feeling the Habs love ex-Flames, the Leafs love ex-Habs and the Flames now love ex-Habs and ex-Leafs. I guess it's a Canadian thing.

And if Higgins doesen't score more goals with the flames than with the Rags you going to go protest in front of the Saddledome?

Such strange deals for Calgary. So what, this is what they wanted?

Bourque-Stajan-Iginla
Hagman-Langkow-Kotalik
Higgins-Boyd-Glencross
Mayers-Conroy-Dawes/Nystrom/McGratton

That's depth in mediocrity alright. What was the point? Higgins, Hagman, Bourque, Glencross are essentially clones of one another.
