He always takes these subtle shots at the Rangers.

You know he used to be a Ranger fan.

He's an Islanders fan now and was as long as I can remember.

Dreger

on live radio now, Leafs Lunch. Mostly talking Phaneuf and Gigere, but just mentioned Rangers/Flames. Deal still on hold, Jokkinen to play for Flames tonight. Teams still talking about main parts, Olli/Prust for Kotalik/Higgins. Bob McKenzie will be on shortly. Probably to talk Phaneuf, might mention Rangers/Flames.

his opening line was that this deal would be done if it weren't for the inept management that exists in calgary & new york

I know he's a Fishsticks fan now but he said he was a Ranger fan before he was an Fishsticks fan.
It had something to do with the Rangers not sending a magazine? or something in the mail when he was a kid. He was disappointed and decided to root for the Islanders.

If you're Sutter, do you go ahead with this now knowing Kotalik had you on his 3-team no-go list?

I can understand why he's thinking long and hard about this [Kotalik, that is], i'm just surprised he's got Calgary on such a short list.

Or does he know he will be dealt when he gets to Calgary and doesn't want to go to that team?

Neither do I.

I'm disappointed the deal originally reported isn't likely to go down; whatever happens, though, I'm not nervous at all about losing Callahan.

hes certainly not going to be moved for ollie and prsut
Agreed. He's certainly not going to be traded for jokinen and prust, thats insane. Sather is an idiot in some regards, but he's not about to trade callahan for those two when he wouldn't trade dubinksi for heatley a few months ago. Dubi and cally are about even in value I'd say, both young guys who seem to be slowly getting better and both skate hard and are good competitors. Honestly, flame away, but we shouldn't dump callahan for kovalchuk, we need heart and hustle just as much as we need scoring. Also, the cap just doesn't work out at all. We're going to need to lose a ton more than cally, higgins and kotalik to free up what kovalchuk is going to want.

I hope that we do this jokinen/prust trade, we could use a first line center even if its a short experiment and prust is exactly what we need in terms of physicality. Throw in a pick if they're not sold, that trade should happen from a rangers standpoint.

Sather actually is usually good/very good at trades. It's UFA contracts that he sucks at.

At this point all we can do is hope we get lucky and whatever other deal Calgary is making will go as planned.
That's what seems most likely at this point.

Is this part of a major 3 way deal that would send Kovalchuk to Calgary?
hmm...

God if Kotalik screws this up he will be more hated in MSG than Crosby, Parise and Tavares combined...

Once again, just because he dislikes the Rangers doesn't mean he's wrong. Its not like Hradek isn't saying things we haven't been saying for months now. Damn skippy I'd be cautious if i was Calgary.

Kotalik may be my most hated player in the NHL. From the ******* play on the ice and now potentially saying no to this deal? If this were soccer with a salary cap i could see a fan plotting to kill him out of spite.

And I just so wonder if that happened to be around ohhh, 1980-1983 or something? Typical of front runners...What little respect I had for him would be totally gone if thats why...he reminds of that little whiney rich kid that doesnt get what he wants so he jumps ship to whatever team is winning...like those kids who now all of a sudden are sporting the Saints jersey's everywhere..who the **** likes the saints?

Or not since this was a leak to begin with.

Dear god. Here we go again. How about we hate both instead of giving the lazy overpaid player a pass? Holding a player accountable for the contract he signs is just as good an idea as holding the idiot who gave out that contract accountable.
