besides of we were gonna shell out that much money to a dman, we ought to just re-sign hamhuis.

Wideman was a by product of playing with Chara. Since he doesn't anymore, he sucks. I had never heard of him before last year and now that he's on a different pairing, he just doesn't make an impact. I could probably play on a pairing with Chara and do ok.

Phaneuf traded to Toronto

This move imo is a precursor for a Kovalchuk trade

I'll be honest, I think this just made the fight for a playoff spot for the Preds a ***** and 3/4ths. Calgary's secondary scoring is better. Calgary's scoring was not that great. They could afford to lose Phanuef. Now it looks like Nashville and Detroit fighting for the last playoff spot unless Nashville can make a deal.

Wow some big trades. Burke pretty much traded their whole team away Also got Giguere For Toskala and Blake from the Duckies.

I really think that helped the Flames. I wonder now if Ponikarovsky will stay now.

I hope not. I'm hoping Poile is on the phone with Burke right now asking him if he would like a pick and maybe Guite for Ponikarovsky...

It really dependson the forwards Burkie wants to spend money on. The updated Cap geek says Toronto is 9 million under the cap next year with 14 players on the roster. 4 UFAs on forward (Poni, Wallin, Primeau, Stempniak). 2 UFAs at Dman(Van Ryn, XLB). They won't sign anyone for D-man simply because Van Ryn and XLB are replacable and they have the replacements on the roster. The Monster is an RFA and will be resigned......unless his heart fails on him again.

Judging by my financial analysis, Poni will be staying in TO and a Big UFA forward will be signed by Toronto. This is a move for next year for Toronto. The D is a lot better. And they can fix the forward lines in the offseason. Only question mark is goal.

The goaltending will be good, I mean Giggy is a good enough starter.

Even if Giggy is average, he is there to help develop the Monster and give him development time.

If Giggy pans out it's a great deal for Burke.

i agree that this has made calgary better. lost by most accounts a locker room cancer. gained 2 guys who know how to put a puck in the net in hagman and stajan and white isn't bad at all. will probably be on their 2nd pairing. if anything it allos j-bo to play a bit more offense with white or giordono. good thing is their last game with edm was last night. they have 8 games left within their division. 2 with the wings and still have alot of toughies as well with ott, philly etc. it will be a dogfight. and expect pho to fall a bit with upshall tearing his acl

If we get someone like Volchenkov or Phillips in return I think I'd be fine with it. Not sure they have any forwards we'd really want.

I wouldn't mind paying a price for Nick Foligno.

Perhaps Michalek would look good in Black and Blue.

I'm sure he would, but given that he was the key piece the Sens got in the Heatley deal, you'd likely be talking about adding Wilson or Blum and our first round pick, at the minimum.

Could be Cheechoo. Not that I want that at all but he's a Sen...

Edit: Really hope not. It makes me sad to think about.

Always had my eye on that guy. What a Pred killer. I think he is getting washed up though.

Yeah but imagine the fun of hearing Pete Weber quit on air with a Ruutu-Chechoo-Tootoo line. Crisp scrambling to do play by play while Tom Callaghan hauled tail down the 65 to get to a microphone.

I don't know. I look over the roster and if it's for Cheech then I also want a pick back, he's got two years on that salary.

Unless it's for prospects but I'm looking down those and I'm not too thrilled by them either.

Wow, three posts in a row, Lebrun is waving around Nashville as a possible suitor to Whitney.

I agree. Unless we are swapping defensemen... I am not really liking the looks of Ottawa's roster myself.

If we trade with Carolina, I think the price we are going to have for Whitney as a rental is going to way too high. I would actually like to see what it would take for Tuomo Ruutu.
