The main thing is, being the #6 in Anaheim is more than being #6 on other places. That's because Eminger is given #4 minutes for some reason when Brookbank is so much better. And Whitney and Wisniewski have been awful defensively for the most part.

Boynton will be fine as a #6 on a team that hasn't the same defensive problems as Anaheim has.
Brookbank will be rewarded soon enough with more minutes. I just hope he doesnt fall under the pressure like 3 of our top 4 have been doing...

Penguins could probably use a crease-clearing rental like Boynton...they might give him a look if Shero feels the trade market for a defensive defenseman is either weak/too expensive...

well cause they had nate thompson or other goons

they waive thompson

sign gillies to protect tavares?

then dump gillies?

i dunno, seems too systematic and smart for it to come from the islanders

so i call retardation

pulling a homer if you prefer

I think this might be because Jackman is coming back and the Philly game we needed someone, it might have gotten out of hand. I also believe Snow will acquire someone like Chris Neil shortly. Someone that can put up some points.

Boyton I would take a serious look at, he brings toughness and a good shot. How has he been this year...seriously?

This guy would be a good upgrade for Mara in Montreal. Right hand shot on top of it all...

Waiving Boynton is really stupid if Murray isn't bringing in another defensemen. He's a solid #6 defensemen that would have some value at the deadline. Not much, but probably a late pick. Better than waiving him anyway.

Act tough at the wrong moments, and look stupid defending an odd man rush. Though I commend him for fighting boogard earlier this year.

Decent defensively, not as physical as I'd have hoped.

Boynton have value? Ha!

Anyways, I am pretty confident Murray is working on a deal to bring in a defense man.

He's pretty decent defensively, stands up for his teamates, fights when needed, and seems to be a good team player. He's a very good #6. Overpaid but a FA after the season. Someone will pick him up

Yes, someone would have taken him at the deadline for a late pick. Veteran presence for a playoff contender. Not much value, but some.

Your confidence means nothing with all the BS promises you have made over the years...

I think the glut of forwards + Toskala getting stuck in immigration/Pogge callup + Selanne healthy has forced Murray's hand.

First sexton was demoted now this.

We have too many bottom 6 forwards and not enough positions to play them:

Chipchura
Marchant
Carter
Bodie
Brown
Parros
Nokia
Artyukhin
Belesky

A secondary goal may be to clear cap space though. Someone might bite since he's a UFA at end of year.

Sounds like Ryan is back with Getzalf and Selanne and Blake will be playing with Koivu and Selanne.

I'd take Boynton on the Rangers, we need someone who actually plays somewhat physically on defense.

2 promises: 1/2 on them (50% if you need help doing the math).

And no, Boynton is terrible. There is a reason why he is getting waived and not traded.

yup exactly what happened. gillies was at the bridge with an AHL contract. needed to sign him for him to come up and play with the isles, now gonna send him back to the AHL, so since hes 31, he needs to clear waivers. nothing out of the ordinary

With Souray, Smid and Staois out, the Oilers who are soft to begin with, are VERY soft now.
I'd take him. Might be able to trade him at the deadline too.

Boynton's an ideal #5-6 guy, I don't see how he will clear. He's been way better than Eminger this year.

This. He is pretty solid defensively- as stated would be a great 5/6 guy on a playoff team.

I hope a team claims him so they can realize how bad he really is.
