Voros isn't amazing, but they guy has shown some bite and with Prust and Boyle could definitely make a solid 4th liner.

Send Brash off to the retirement home!

I think they need to play both Voros and Prust. Voros has been good on the forecheck and he is hitting people and being physical. Having Prust-Boyle-Voros would be a nice 4th line that can be physical and provide some energy.

Avery should not be on the fourth line. I would prefer him on the 3rd line. Or play him with Dubinsky they play well together.

Lisin gets bumped and Avery moves up and 4th line is Prust Boyle Voros.

I'm not sure I've ever seen less debate about anything on these boards. I'm glad that we can all get behind the Voros - Boyle - Prust idea. I think the little extra bite might go a long way. Now we just have to figure out how to get Brashear off the books.

I really like that 4th line.

wait.

dru arty avery
voros boyle prust

is better than

dru arty lisin
avery boyle prust

so you are saying voros over avery on line 4 ?

and break up the 3rd line of dru arty and lisin

that lineup is stronger ?

um no. thats just stupid.

lisn >>> voros and its not even close.

avery looks best on the 4th line. sorry people. the 4th line of avery boyle and prust is the cats azz.

voros belongs on the bench as long as prust and avery can both go.

Voros has a role. Hes a big body that can get in on the forecheck and wear down the opposition...a 4th liners role.

Lisin has no role because he sucks, and has the hockey sense of a toddler.

For everyone who is advocating retaining Voros... Are you aware we're paying him $1 mil a season to be scratched half the year and lose 75% of his fights???

I don't care for Voros nor Brashear and would like to see both of their silly contracts off the books.... Both are signed through next season and combined they take up $2.4 mil of cap space...

Add Boogard on July 1st to replace Brashear. We need more than two middleweights. Add a heavyweight into the mix and the skilled players can finally do their thing.

I agree.

but in a less mean way :-P

With our lines structured with Lisin out of it, they have specific roles they can accomplish, with Lisin in it, it's a little less structured with those 2 lines being sorta jacks of all trade, but master of none. id rather have specific roles....which is why I have always believed in having 1 power line where you load up your best players, and structure it from there.

yeah, he's overpaid, but only by about 200-300k, that's negligible.

Voros is also a good lockerroom guy, and at that price, that intangible is probably worth the price difference. Voros plays hard, and does what he has to do.

When we have better options, his contract will be up. I would rather have Byers in there now, but it wouldn't make all that much of a difference at this point.

Boogard is a shell of his former self. His back is a mess and he barely fights anymore. Sign John scott dress 11 forwards and 7 defensemen and let this beast loose

Voros getting scratched isn't his fault.

Yes, he's overpaid, but like someone else said, only by 200 - 300K.

Brashear is overpaid by 1.4 million, because he's done nothing of positive value for this team. He loses most fights and his fights are pathetic. Not to mention he nurses "injuries" from his fights for 4 - 5 games.

At least voros takes his beatings like a man, plays with heart, is a good influence on the team, and isn't scared to fight even when he's still recovering from cuts he had from previous fights.

Voros has done well in his fights this year. Don't knock him based on his past.

Voros has improved his fighting this year. He is at least respectable at it now. The bigger point is he will stick up for teamates and try to protect them. Brashear has been a joke this year. I hope they can trade him by the deadline.

Anyway next year I like to see them really add a big physical defensemen. Someone like a Matt Carkner type. Heavyweights are a dying breed. A defensemen that can play physical and drop the gloves if needed and can play 16-17 minutes a night is much more valuable. Especially on the rangers where most of the defense men dont like playing physical.

The trick is to find one of these who has good mobility and can play defense well.

I don't see Voros with a fat ass lip of Skoal 24/7 so he can't possibly be Nick Swisher.

Swisher loves that dip.

to CLB

Roszival, Huggy, Sauer

to NYR

Commodore, Torres

Commodore's contract runs a year longer but he's a heavy hitter on the back end that we need. CLB has defensive dmen, could use rozy who's a hybrid o/d dman (when he doesn't suck), they save money longer term. Sauer is the sweetener and although I like him, given our depth at D I don't think he's in our future plans anymore.

This. Voros has been fine as a strictly 4th liner. He's not very good but he wants to be here, he tries to provide energy and he's willing to throw the body and stand up for his teammates. He's obviously tremendously well liked in the locker room (and he's friends with Gabby from Minnesota). He's younger, better and gets paid less. If Sather's going to work a miracle and move one, it's gotta be Brashear.
