Isn't Backlund about to be assigned to Abbotsford?

Rob Kerr was saying that from talking to Darryl Sutter this morning, it sounds like Backlund will be staying up.

Screw the tinfoil hat! Hide in your fallout shelter!
Seriously feeling that Sutter has a big plan to land someone, hopefully it is Richards or Carter

I think it would of already happened. Kotalik is flying to Calgary and will be there tonight. They wont have him make the trip and then shove him on another flight.

The only thing I still see happening maybe is just turning someone like Langkow for someone equally good/bad.

Or maybe its Backlund? If you wanna talk conspiracy then what if the reason Sutter called up Backlund was to show him off to a potential trade bait?

There are too many wingers and some of them have to go. Waiving them would be stupid. There has to be a trade and hopefully it entails high picks.

No, not really. Only McGrattan will be scratched tomorrow. Until Moss and Dawes get healthy, we really won't have too many wingers.

I would really doubt that. I think Backlund is pretty safe.

Exactly. We will soon have 3 guys reactivated from IR. Then what? Our only choice is to waive or trade them. I say trade, and so should Sutter.

Outsider question here, but how is Moss's shoulder doing? Do they have an idea of when he'll be back? I can't find much news on it anywhere.

From TSN Ice Chips

The Flames held an optional skate on Wednesday without Jay Bouwmeester, Robyn Regehr, Ian White, Niklas Hagman or Matt Stajan. Newcomers Christopher Higgins and Ales Kotalik are skating, but there wasn't anything on line combos revealed. - TSN

Practice Lines from Tuesday

Forwards:
Hagman - Stajan - Iginla
Higgins - Langkow - Kotalik*
Glencross - Nystrom - Mayers
Bourque - Backlund - Boyd

Interesting to see the leaf guys not skating, must be something they had to do with management perhpas....Dunno...Also see slava kozlov scratched for the fifth straight game
