Bruins be ideal candidates as they have extra picks and injury cap space this season

Kovalchuk is my favorite player in the league.

Call me crazy, but I offer:

Jaroslav Halak (I know, they have Pavelec but Lehtonen will likely be moved)
Andrei Kostitsyn
Sergei Kostitsyn
Jaroslav Spacek
Yannick Weber

for

Kovalchuk

He will probably end up in either Chicago, LA or Calgary in that order...I think the Hawks have the best assets to get Kovy....

Trading all those assets for somebody that will be free as the wind in 4 months is crazy.

hawks do look like they are rdy to give up a extalblished player, wich is what ATL is looking for. Poor atlanta, they will have no attendance this year/next

hmmmm, I don't really care. He's going to be an FA this summer no matter what. If Chicago ends up with him, that's just plain disgusting. I hope he ends up somewhere strange like Nashville, but anywhere in the Western conference will do.

Well, you never know. If we could somehow lock him up for 10 years at 70 million. I'd do that in a second.

I predict Boston for Bruins #1 pick in 2010, Leafs #1 in 2011, and Leafs #2 pick in 2010 along with Krejci maybe Ryder as a throw in

I say he's going to L.A. for Thomas Hickey, a 2nd, and Jarret Stoll, and maybe another player on the payroll to make the cap hit work.

LA, Calagary and Boston make the most sense to me. The 1st to being the best candidates as they're in the West.

For some reason it's nice knowing Toronto couldn't get him even if they wanted to

I still want Gainey to go after quality third liners this trade deadline, if he decides to be a buyer that is.

Torres, Walker, Ott, etc. That is what we lack the most. This, and maybe another physical defenseman.

something to chew on via Custance twitter:

"Not surprised to hear the Devils attached to Kovalchuk. When Hossa was dealt at the deadline, I was told NJ offered ATL Gionta."

I'd love it if Boston dumped all those assets, but I can't see Chiarelli being that dumb. Calgary Chicago LA all make more sense.

If they were offered Toronto's 1st I'm sure that would get their attention, plus Krejci who's a good player having a bad year but has a nice contract.

Genius.
