That rumor has been out there all season, maybe it'll happen now. Not saying I want it too, but you never know.

Not surprising really. He hasn't practiced in a couple days and isn't even dressed tonight. Holmgren is probably just saying he's fine because he is talking with other GMs about acquiring one of their goalies and doesn't want to tip his hand or something clandestine (retarded) like that.

Players get over injuries. If it keeps them cheap I'm game.

I'd like to get Halak, but I'm not interested in giving up an arm and a leg.

By the way. I assume Emery isn't necessarily hurt. I think he's still recovering a bit, and Timmy P. might be overreacting a bit. He has looked stiff and is fighting off the puck at times. Even so, he hasn't been terrible. I think it's a slow process, and he deserves a little rest every now and then.

Think about it, he's been in almost non-stop since his return.

If it is something serious, I'm confident that's the direction we head in next.
Not all players get over injuries though. If a guy is going to be injury prone, the team needs see this and cut the string sooner than later in order to not waste time and money. Not saying this specifically about anyone currently, but signing a bunch of injury prone players for cheap means having to make a bunch of moves during the season for rentals which means depleting our current and future prospect pool.

If Emery truly has a nagging problem, the Flyers need to nip it in the butt, bite the bullet and rest him before it gets worse. He is the guy going into the playoffs and he needs to be healthy. I would much rather play Leighton tonight against the Oil, than risk further injury for Emery.

Price is done in Montreal. I'd be shocked of they traded Halak. Plus, Price would command a better return.

Why do you think Price is done? Gainey has always been real high on him.

1.) He can't handle the pressure.
2.) He's way overrated, and was given the reigns way too early.
3.) 1 + 2 = He's done in MTL.

Gainey is being a good GM, he's not going to throw him under the bus.

I'm sure, Emery is fine. This isn't the first time Tim P. has reported players hurt(See Simon Gagne in the first few games of the season).

If this is true, we're going goalie shopping. Not Kovi shopping.

I agree he has been overrated and was given the reigns too early, but he is only 22. I think his development is fine for a goalie his age. It just pales in comparison the unrealistic hype Montreal fans and media foisted upon him. I don't think that is reason to give up on him. It's just whether they feel he or Halak will be the better goalie going forward. Their handling of the situation seems to indicate they still believe Price is that guy, unless their minds have begun to change recently.

Yeah except you piss in the bottle after you open it. Which is an oxymoron anyway.

Gotta laugh at the notion of Halak becoming a Flyer, he's a major reason the Habs are still buoyant.

I've completely lost faith in Holmgren. He just has absolutely no clue what to do as a GM. He doesn't know whether he's coming or going and the way he's running the team, he's running it into one big train wreck. Hopefully he gets canned soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if they rush Parent.

I agree with you about Holmgren. I am hoping they get rid of him if there is another first round exit.

Did Parent and Bolland have the same type of back surgery?

The latest, from Wayne Fish:

http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/news...-hip-pain.html

Quote:
Flyers goaltender Ray Emery, who missed 17 games following abdominal surgery on Dec. 9, was scratched from the lineup for Saturday night's game at Minnesota due to what the team is calling soreness in his left hip.

Early Saturday night, general manager Paul Holmgren said the current hip problem is not related to the abdominal surgery.

"This is kind of an ongoing thing here that he has been struggling with but he has some hip issues on the left side," Holmgren said. "Fortunately for us he hasn't missed any time until now. Just as a precaution we are going to hold him out tonight.

"This is not at all related to his abdominal surgery."

Holmgren said Emery will be checked by team doctors on Monday.

"We will see how he is, whether he is able to play," Holmgren said. "We are certainly going to get him checked out when we get back just to make sure we know what we are dealing with."

There is the possibility that Emery will receive an injection to ease the discomfort.

"Our past experience with goaltenders and players with hip issues, there is a synvisc injection they can put in there, which acts as a lubricant," Holmgren said. "A number of our guys have done this.

"I had it done in my knee and it is more of a lubricant. It goes in and 'oils' your joint."

It's an understatement to say that the goaltending situation this year has been insanely ballbreaking.

Hope Ray is fine.

Joint problems have nothing to do with "training like a pro". In fact, joint problems often arise from such training and competing. Not in all players, but id say most.

Exact same. Why is it that Bolland took 13 weeks to recover yet Parent is expected back in 6 to 8 weeks?

Different vertebrae? I don't know anything about Bolland's surgery, just throwing out an idea.
