I always wonder if he takes advantage of his access to the players by throwing on the coaches hat.

Do the players really care what he would have to say? (that's 50% joke/50% serious).

It had nothing to do with the wrestling on Monday night why the ice was so bad. The ice was bad Saturday night as well. The circus was in town the week before so they took the ice up while on a road trip and it's new ice. They need to book the circus in the summer when there is no hockey and let the ice be during the season.

Correct, while the wrestling event the night prior didn't help, it certainly couldn't be blamed for the overall poor quality of the ice. Every time they put down the ice there are air bubbles/pockets that form between the layers and until they are worked out of the ice...they make for an incredibly chippy, uneven surface beneath the skaters.

You will see a lot of players falling in turns and transitioning when they have all their weight on a single edge of the skate blade and with the added pressure...the ice literally "flakes" out from beneath them and causes them to lose their edge and fall. Pucks don't like to stay flat with the uneven surface and bounce, hop, and jump off and over sticks negating skill.

Bottom line is that the teams both play on the same sheet, so there is no advantage one way or the other. But the team that wins, will be the team that overcomes the issue and decides to rely less on their talent level to win and more on their work ethic and simple, basic defensive systems...

Thanks for the info on the ice. I just figured wrestling was a factor because the last game in Columbus was also the night after wrestling. While it wasn't as bad as this past Tuesday, I felt both teams then had problems settling the puck down.

Either way, I agree it isn't an excuse. Both teams play with it and have to adjust. Hopefully this will be made better in the coming weeks. I'm sure the ice crew is happy about the Olympic break coming soon.

Man, why do the Sharks have to start playing at 5? Now I have to flip between them and the Preds game. Remotes gonna get to work overtime tonight.

I can't get it to work for me, but maybe some of you will have better luck. Guess I'm going to sleep early tonight...

Heh... at least you got it to load. I've clicked the play button at least seventy times in sheer frustration. It never once did anything. I hate FSN

Oh good... I keep forgetting that on nights when it isn't televised the game is broadcast on the radio featuring Weber and Crisp. I'm not a huge fan of theirs on the tv broadcast. It's even worse on the radio.

Sounded like a great shift by the Preds creating a shooting gallery in the Colorado end...given nice ovation from the fans when they came off.

Still 0-0 though...

Didn't sound like it. I don't think Sulzer is that type of player either...

Stewart to McLeod on a 2 on 1 rush after the puck "hopped" over Bouillon's stick at the offensive blueline...

1-0 Avs.

I'm switching to the Colorado radio feed if I can. I'm sick of hearing "bingo bango" from Crisp after the other team scores. Does that make me a bad Preds fan?

Preds come right back with a solid shift from the Erat - Goc - Tootoo line, but alas...still down 1...

Preds outshoot Colorado 14-8 after the first period, but the Avalanche capitalize on an odd-man rush late in the period to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room...

At least we're shooting...by the sounds of it, the Preds have to get more traffic to the net to capitalize on some of the rebounds being left by Anderson...

The Avs guys are annoying as hell. Evidently the goal they just knocked in was about the greatest ever scored. Blazing speed and unparalleled skill -- the Preds should be embarrassed. Petey and Crispy are fantastic compared to this homerism.
